Who Out There is Around 5'4 , 123 lbs and trying to loose? I am trying to find people in my same situation, find out how much you are eating, and how much you are working out. Whats working for you? What isnt? We should start a group!
I am 5' 3 1/2" (and 35) and went from 129 to 109 in about 3 1/2 months. I think it would have taken less time if I hadn't started out eating too little.
I eat a ton because I have a lot of muscle and a strenuous exercise regime, so information on my intake probably wouldn't help you much. What might help you is the fact that concentrating on switching up my exercise really helped me drop the weight fast. I continually engaged in new and different exercises that challenged my body. If you do the same thing day in and day out, your body gets used to it. It doesn't have to work as hard and you don't end up losing as much as you could.
I also do a lot of weight lifting, with heavy weights. I've done that for just under 20 years now.
I'm 5' 3 and half. I weigh 124 pounds. I lose about a pound a week, I eat around 1500 calories on weekdays and normally around 2000 on the weekends. I'm pretty happy with my weight loss, I started at 132.5 pounds, its taken me about two and half months to lose the weight so far. I would like to lose another 4 pounds and maintain around 120. I exercise an hour a day 5-6 times a week. I mainly use the ellipitical machine and do lots of heavy weight lifting.
I'm turning 30 in about 6 months and I don't think I've ever been this fit. My goal is to be able to 100 pushups by then. My upper body was seriously out of shape before I started this program, I didn't do any lifting at all before then.
Thanks for the replies guys! I could definitely stand to change up my work out. I think I am going to try adding days at this point. Currently I work out 4, I am going to try to take it up to 5 and see what happens. 2 months ago I weight 132, and now I am down to 123, and I have to say what has made the biggest difference for me personally is eating less. I probably average 1500 calories but some days its 1200 and some days it 1600. I may have one day per week where its more like 1800-2000 on account of going out or something.Something that made a HUGE difference was cutting out my almost daily sugary coffee habbit. I took it down from a Nonfat White Mocha, to a Non Fat Mocha, and then I switched to house coffee with a tiny bit of nonfat milk, or maybe an iced Americano with cream, and I saw some weight come off right away!
I love Cardio, but unfortunatley despise weights. :( I have to get over that!
I have cut almost all refined sweeteners out of my diet in the last four months. (I cut out artificial sweeteners quite some time ago). I didn't do this while losing, so I don't know how it might have affected that. But I have seen changes in my physique since doing away with sweeteners.
Thanks for sharing - Speaking of Artificial Sweetners, did you notice a difference when you cut those out? I have a diet soda habbit, but it seems I am hearing more and more about how they can actually make you gain weight, so I am thinking about just switching to Sparkling Water?
Seems like you're my dieting twin, haha. I've been fighting the same 10 pounds all my life. Whenever I get up to the mid 130s I go crazy and start dieting, my clothes don't fit and I can't bear to look in the mirror. If I stay at 124 forever I would be perfectly happy with it, all my clothes are loose and I look great in my summer outfits. I have a real weakness for late night junk food, so I've worked hard at reducing/eliminating it and will continue to work hard once I reach my goal to make sure I don't have to keep dieting off those same 10 pounds for the rest of my life.
I drink mostly plain water, though I do still enjoy my morning cup of coffee or tea. I'm a vegetarian so I started to drink soy milk recently to add so extra protein to my diet. I also try to get a cup of fresh vegetable or fruit juice daily. I've found that when I eat really clean I'm really motivated to not ruin it with garbage. What's your goal?
Good idea on the fruit/vegtable juice! My personal goal is 115. I have a TINY bone structure and that weight would be perfectly healthy for me. But right now 8lbs seems almost impossible! I have also kicked around the idea of nutrisystem just to control my intake even further. Anyone out there have experience with this?
Yeah after losing 8lbs already, I'm kind of ready to call it quits and stop driving myself crazy. I wouldn't bother with any of that stuff like nutrisystem, you have to learn to eat right on your own or you'll just gain it back once you reach your goal.

petitepowerhouse - i have a question for you. what kinds of exercises do you do to switch things up? i do a combo of yoga/pilates/weights and cardio every week and really havent seen much of a difference (in about 6 weeks). any suggestions on more of a variety?
oh yea - and im 5' 2 1/2" CW: 127 GW: 112
I always feel so indifferent in these forums... I'm 5ft 4. I weight 138-142 on any given day and I wear a size 4/5-5/6 (depending on the time of month and if I did a killer leg workout). My goal weight is 133... and eventually maybe I'll see about 125... but I am not sure how that would look on me.
My measurements are as follows:
bust: 35; chest: 29; high waist: 27; low waist: 31; hip: 34; butt: 39.5; high thigh: 22; low thigh: 18; calve: 14.5
I'm in the same boat. 5'4" 131 lbs. , GW: 120. I've been dieting for two months and have lost nothing. I usually have about 1600 calories a day and I walk everyday, do different cardio activities 3-4 times a week and lifr weigths 2 times a week. Am I eating too much? I'm 45, almost 46 years old. I hope it's not too late for me. I'd really like to drop 10 lis for my wedding in about a year. Any ideas?
I am 5'4 and 120 pounds. My goal is to get down to 115 but it hasn't been easy. I work out 6-7 days a week for about an hour each day and try to stick to a 1300 calorie diet. In the last month and a half i've lost about 3 pounds but I feel like I'm in a rut and not losing anything. I do tend to do the same workout activities every day and that could be the problem. As you said your body gets used to it and I'm actually finding that I sweat less then I used to at the gym. I'll have to try switching it up and see if that helps knock off those last few pounds.
