| Talking Back The Gym: the Motivational Post | ||
| Aug 08 2008 16:08 | ||
Once, not so long ago, many of us were on track. We ate well, we worked out, we did well. And then, for whatever reason, things came to a halt and we were unable to get started. This thread is for those of us who want to talk back the gym and tell it who's boss. It's meant as a motivational post, to motivate all of us to do it and keep doing it. This is NOT a challenge. We're just here to cheer each other on and get us all back into the gym and back on track. You ready? :) The gym awaits. Tell it who it's Daddy/Mommy is! |

Well, I'm in too. The gym and I used to be tight, but I drifted away. Time to renew our relationship and abuse the machines a bit more. I hear they like it ;) |

The weather has seemed to cooled off and it won't be so God awful hot this weekend. I'm planning on doing some dog walking for the local Humane Society. *baby steps* |

I'm gonna go to the gym after work today, even though it's Friday and the weekend calls.
And I will take Lucy for a walk tomorrow, too. |

I have the same feelings. The gym and I had gotten into a groove, it was nice, refreshing, invigorating and then something happened. My life hasn't changed much but the groove is gone and squeezing in the gym has been challenging lately. I need to get my groove back, tackle the gym again. I've kept my first 10 off so at least there isn't a back slide but I want more off. I want to get my skinny back. The weekend is booked with activities, outdoors so that is good, so monday is my day to get back in the groove. |

My sweat ate the paint off the eliptical trainer.
I am afraid. |

I'm in! I started back in the gym about 6 weeks ago, had to change lifestyle, work patterns and most importantly eating habits, committed to losing 40lbs, been stuck on same weight now for 3 weeks after losing 20lbs, any ideas how to kick start weight loss again, it's very frustrating. I go to gym 5/6 times a week, alternate upper and lower body, with loads of hard! cv. |

If you consider 16 years not too long ago, I want to be in too! Yep, used to be so health conscious...best of shape, eating well, working out, teaching aerobics...bought a house, got married, and had kids. Beautiful life, but lost me. Started calorie count in January 2008 and was on a roll loosing every week and giving my treadmill the workout of his life. Then family member health support requirements kicked in, and I fell off the wagon. Logged in today, read your thread, and got the boost I needed to want to kick butt again. Weighed myself today, and unfortunately gained 7 lbs since I last logged anything. Thanks for the thread and the much needed motivation I have been longing for! |

The gym and I had a meeting on Friday. I told it, in no uncertain terms, that I was going to use it. It acknowledged that. I think it was happy, but you can't really tell with these personifications of gym equipment. Me and Mr. Treadmill spent a good 20-some minutes being reacquainted though. I left hot, sweaty and vaguely satisfied. |

I bought a scythe.
Now I can go get some cardio and trim some weeds around the farm at the same time. My free weights are still dusty. Maybe if I pay someone to clean them I would be more likely to use them...... |

Original Post by frothbeast: Indeed. You also have the makings of a great halloween costume! Perhaps you could handle the free weights a little at a time? One or two weights a day? |

I am carrying rebeccalilybeast around with me all the time, so she is a freeweight of sorts.
I beleive I will enjoy lifting the weights, just not dusting them |

Once again, I Remember, the only one who can make this happen is YOU. You have the power. You have the power to work out, to eat well, to make good choices. You can do this, one choice at a time. |

leave it to hk to be able to make me smile, laugh AND get a little teary-eyed over this post. great quote --> "Remember, the only one who can make this happen is YOU. You have the
power. You have the power to work out, to eat well, to make good
choices. You can do this, one choice at a time." I love it. I have no outside gym and I am not currently having a hard time with my workouts, but I love the tone of this post. ( : I adopted a dog last winter. She and I jog (as well as walk and wog). I just, this summer after years and years of ignoring, started riding the stationary bicycle I have had forever. I love it. My bf couldn;t get motivated to lose weight with just free stuff like me, so he bought us a Bowflex which is rocking awesome too. I love the fact that I can actually see visible muscles. WHo knew? SO I say to you all -- talk back the gym! Working out makes me feel strong and empowered. What more could I ask for? |

| Working out WILL get rid of stress. If you are having a hard time sleeping, you should do some real work...... | ||
