New Member Too!! 30 yrs old trying to lose 30 pds

Hi!!  I'm 30 years old looking to lose 30 pounds.  I went back to school full time summer of 2005 and put on the good ole' freshman and sophomore 10's (even though I was an entering junior) and then another 10 after that for a full 30 pound sack of generous hip and thigh baggage.

I tried to start losing some weight in May/June.  I had medical issues and got a bit depressed and stopped exercising in July (I gained another 5 pounds for a total of 30 pounds in 3 years).  It's been a full month since I've exercised and last week I decided that I'd like to get back on track.  So I figured I'd do it in stages.  First, by changing my diet.  After a week of "training" myself to take in healthier foods in smaller portions, then I'd start exercising.  So this morning, I started off with about 15 minutes of some light calisthenics-50 sit-ups, hydrants 2 reps of 10, kickbacks 2 reps of 15, side and back leg lifts 2 reps of 10 each.  This afternoon I'll add in a 30 minute walk and tomorrow I'll do the same and hopefully add in some push-ups (was a bit dizzy this morning to do 'em).  A full week of this routine along with the better eating should push me to add another 10-15 minutes to my routine next week so I can evolve from walking to running or at least a mix for 45 minutes.  Next week, I'll keep the same type of "diet" for food but change up the types of food so I don't get bored and end up discouraged and falling off the wagon with a bunch of excuse snacking.

So, here's to week one in the hole and hoping for great things for week 2.  I'd really love to see that first 2 pounds fall off but think it would be best if I only weighed in every 2 weeks on Monday mornings.  Don't want the minimal progress of 1-2 pounds to be a deterrent in moving full steam ahead.
