Hello
Well I'm new to counting calories, but so far so good. I went to a specialist on 7/28/08 and he said I have an enlarged thyroid, not really sure what that means, but he said that I need to be on a 1000 cal diet. So I did it great the first day, actually only had 997 cals (not intentionally under). Then yesterday I decided that 1000 was making me very lightheaded and starving so I did 1600. Today I ended up doing 2000 because I was craving a frosty!!:( Hopefully I can stick to the 1600. I actually dont feel as hungry as I was the first day so thats good!! I'm 25 yrs old. Currently weigh 325 and am 6ft. I would love to be back down to my pre-children weight of 175. I have PCOS which I really don't quite understand, they tell me that my body doesn't know how to get rid of the sugar I consume or the sugar my body naturally makes. I would love to have some people on here as my buddies!! We can lose weight together and give each other encouragement. Heaven knows I need it!!! Thanks for listening:)
Hello
I'm on a 1400 cal diet, I try not to eat more than that. Plus i take fiber pills and green tea pills and i don't feel hungry. I try to eat 4-5 small meals a day but its hard because of my job. Right now i only eat chicken and turkey, fruits and veggies. I don't drink any soda's only 100% juices and thats about 4oz, its hard for me to drink lots of water but i try to drink at least 24oz a day. I'm in the same boat with you i have PCOS and it was so hard for me to get pregnant. I had to take clomid pills and metformin pills, but it work! I had a baby girl Nov. 2007. So now I'm trying to lose the baby fat and then some. Before i got pregnant i was 200lbs and after i weigh 225lbs, So far i weigh 204lbs and counting. I'm trying to lose around 50-60lbs. I workout 5days wk. plus weight train and i do this in my house. So just have faith and it will work, you just have to stick with it. If you can just take small steps and cut out all sugar in your diet. Than cut out something else, you will see results. talk sooon!

I am not a medical professional but 1000 calories a day for a woman who stands 6' tall and weighs over 300...this just sounds uninformed and dangerous to me. Are you totally inactive? Bed-bound or wheel-chair bound? Is this 1000 calories a day for a short period of time in preparation for a medical procedure? If not, you definitely need more calories and that's just common sense.
I'm 5'8" and weigh over 300 and I need 3,000+ calories a day to maintain that weight, 2500 calories a day to lose 1 lb a week, 2000 calories a day to lose 2 lbs a week. I average between 1750 and 2050 calories a day. If I try to lose it any faster than that and go below 1500 cals for more than a week, I plateau. If I go below 1000 cals, I trigger starvation mode (which means I then gain weight at 1200+ cals a day until I get my metabolism re-regulated again). And my whole weight loss/weight gain+ nightmare all started with a 1000cal/day plan that a well-meaning but uninformed doctor put me on 30 years ago to lose 40 pounds. Please get a second opinion before trying to follow that advice for anything longer than a week.

I also am new to cc, I am 49,fat, fair and female , I also have PCOS, the way I understand it we produce plenty of insulin but our bodies are unable to adequately use it ,so we store the glucose we are unable to burn as fat. This is called insulin resistance.Another name for PCOS is metabolic syndrome, I was diagnosed at age 16, If you maintain a healthy weight you can escape some of the later life problems . Diabetes , heart disease, high blood pressure, elevated triglycerides, etc. I am 5'6" and weigh 195 lbs
My doc has me on 1600 ada diet and I was recently started on glucophage.Oh yeah newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic... Iam losing about 2 lbs a week and I find that I am not really all that hungry on this diet, I agree with Michelle that 1000 cal for longer than 1 week is unsafe and I am a RN with 18 yrs experience. even our really obese patients with diabetes get at least 1400 cal a day and each one is highly individualized..Please get a second opinion, I would encourage you to see an endocrinologist ...
