and i'm still eating! this damn cereal is so good i can't stop. i had planned on 200 cals for breakfast and eating a bunch of small meals today. looks like i can't do that now
Yup... that sounds like me over the weekend. I consume over 2000 on Saturday, when I went to eat all you can eat buffet at a chinese rest. it was realllllllllllll good! but I feel guilty now.
Its all good still! a massive healthy salad with the right dressing can only be like 100cals, try that with a grilled chicken breast?
I love salt and vinegar rice cakes theyre only 28 cals each, and fill you up way more than crisps!!
My favourite snack is 2 peppers (70 cals) with a huge pot of slasa (100 cals per pot)
And there's always good old beans on toast (a whole can of healthy baked beans is around 200 cals plus toast?)
All is not lost!!!
haha thanks tigzy that should really help. i seem to do this every weekend. breakfast is my favorite meal and i'm obsessed with cereal so i just sit in the kitchen and eat it straight out of the box! but we have some salsa so i think i'll try that with peppers. yum! and maybe it'll speed up some BM's hahah!
no probs im a massive breakfast eater too so you learn to live with it!! whats BM?? lol

You should have a big breakfast with 500-600 calories anyway.. Thats good...Do a search on Google about Big Breakfasts... It really prevents over eating later in the day .. controls munchies and gets your metabolism burning....

bowel movement :o)
I just can't have cereal in the house right now. I'll eat it, allll of it. Gosh, it's my weakness. I cut out sugar and wheat, it's helping me not crave. Surprisingly.
girl, there are guys that eat 1500-2000 cal for breakfast... thats nothing
haha oh right i get you! I would have thought eating a lot of cereal would be good for that though... unless its not the fibre stuff your eating lol!!
I've taken on board your 5 meals a day plan, its 10:20am and im on my second meal of the day, well... snack i guess lol, 4 jumbo rice cakes!! breakfast was some apricot wheats and a yoghurt, so im not really hungry but if i eat all day healthily i know i wont pig out later!!

i've never really understood how that works. if i eat 600 calories early, but then burn them, i think i'd be just as hungry "later in the day" (whenever that is). i can kind of see it getting your metabolism going, but doesn't that mean i'll be burning MORE calories and hence get hungry sooner. i don't know.
i do konw that the 5-6 small meals/snacks is working pretty well for me. i heard an explination once that i really like...
have you ever seen a fat deer? i haven't (at least not in the wild) and how do they eat? they graze (eat small meals) all day. bears on the other hand gorge and store fat. since no one will let me hibernate i'd rather be a deer. LOL
Cereal can be very very yummy..but it's also very easy to eat way too much! If you can't portion control it now, try eating kashi, special K, or some other cereal bar. They are also very yummy and it's already portioned! Or here's a trick- Cut up an apple in very small slices or strawberries and mix it in with your cereal-then it looks like you have triple the amount of cereal and you feel more satisfied!
You could always try portioning the cereal into baggies in reasonable amounts, so rather than grabbing that box you grab a bag instead. I personally have never seen the appeal of cereal '__' I prefer oatmeal. Heh.
why does all the yummy cereal have to be so bad for you and all the "good" cereal taste like cardboard? lol
oh the big breakfast note, there have been studies that show eating a big breakfast helps weight loss for reasons some of you already posted: not as hungry during the day, won't overeat at later meals, etc. and i always read that you should eat the bulk of your calories during the day when you are active and burning them off and opt for a lighter dinner because, let's face it, sleeping doesn't burn too many calories. i looooove dinner though -- it's kind of like my reward for being good during the day. maybe i can be hypnotized to do squats and sit-ups in my sleep....hmmm
