Ever since I stumbled upon this site I have been an advocate for it and telling everyone I know about it when they ask how I am losing my weight. I tell them that it would be near impossible without this site and the tools it gives you, along with the FANTABULOUS people on here! YAY YOU! Anyway, I just wanted to say that.
Also, is it just me or is there no real adverstisement for the website.
I stumbled upon it by happenstance!! Thank God!! It is truly keeping me focused and accountable. I, too, tell everyone about it!! Everyone I've told about has never heard of it either.
I am totally with you! I have started being asked about my "secret" and turned quite a few people on to the site, one of which being my mom, who has struggled with her weight her entire life. I also tell them that the message boards are more helpful than lame (like other websties) and that once you get the whole logging each thing you put in your mouth down, it's so easy to follow. It also helps that since joining this site I have lost 17 lbs (and before that only losing 5 on my own)!
Yeah, I only found this site by googling calorie information on something I was going to eat. So, everyone who asks what my "secret" is, gets about a 20 minute gushing review of CC!
congrats rstrehle!!!!
I've lost 12lbs so far and only because of this site... it's a gift from the calorie gods!
thmheh - you aren't the only one... i tell people to get on their computers at that minute if they are infront of it and say, "get ready for the easiest lifestyle change EVER!!!"
Yeah, I'm surprised at how easy it is. I've lost 28 lbs in just under 14 weeks, and I feel like I'm eating all the time.
I'd lost 30 lbs before, but did it the wrong way, pratically starving myself on an almost 0 fat diet. Needless to say I gained a lot of it back.
The CC way, I feel like I'm truly learning a lifestyle change (I'm eating way more veggies nowand learning what true portions should be), and I really feel like I'll be able to keep it off this time.

Sounds like you're doing great! I also feel like I'm eating all the time. I had to get in 200 extra calories the other night, so I sat there trying to shovel in some oatmeal. It's hard to eat when you don't feel hungry.
Topanga, I tell everyone I know about CC, too. And I'm always surprised when people aren't as excited about it as I am!
But, yes, I'm a walking advertisement for CC! :)
I love CC too! Before I was just logging calories by hand, and it was a little frustrating. I would always be trying to find out how much something was, or randomly guessing at what the caloric value of foods were. Now, not only is it all right there. But it has also helped me get a handle on my sugar consumption! All the info here is great, and you can find the answer to just about any question thanks to all the informed people!!!
I never thought that counting calories would be for me, but when I got serious about changing my habits I had to start somewhere. When I looking up some random food I found CC, and I have been logging since that day! How easy!!
I even feel like I am a commercial now.
I've definitely become an advertisement for CC! I've lost 18 pounds and it's all because of this site! I was having absolutely no luck on my own, but with all of the tools this site has to offer, plus the support of others in the community, it's not hard at all! Whenever anyone asks me what my secret is, I tell them about CC. Nobody can believe all this help is free!
Like many of the rest of you, I get asked my secret and I tell them... apparently I did it the hard way because I can't see anyone I know on the site yet.... Oh well, their loss (just not weight loss)
I've gotten a couple on the site. But none on the forums that I could catch. My Dad is using it vicariously. He's in his 70's and a bit of a fogey (his word)/technophobe (my word).
Anyway I was at a wonderful French restaurant talking about my diet on an "off diet" day. So my dad was interested. I registered him and have l logged his food in for him over the phone. I'm hoping he'll come over and use the computer to put it in. My brother wants to buy him a computer, but I think we should wait until he uses one first. He He.
The other people I've gotten on are in exercise programs and actively trying to lose weight. They like the easy logging. I like the nutritional info and food grades--even if I think they should be more relative--for example protein sources shouldn't be graded based on vegetable criteria.

Me too! That's exactly how I found this place. At first I wasn't going to get on the forum area but I've found that it's part of the whole process for me. It's accountability to people that are going through the same thing I am. It's also helpful because we all have the same questions at one time or another and can help each other out. And it's FREE!
CC rocks!
I found the site while searching for the fiber content of flaxseed - LOL! Yes, I tell people about it but I guess it's an issue of willpower AND timing. I had lost 15 lbs at a 10-wk program of Weight Watchers (started 9/15/07) and I didn't want to keep paying. I was going to re-join after New Year 2008 but found this site and it's totally worked for me - I've lost 83 lbs total so far with a goal loss of 120 lbs! I love the support aspect - I was too shy to speak up or make "buddies" at WW, but it's much easier here to participate as much/little as I want. I also love CC - it makes the "hard" way so much easier!!!!!!! Best wishes to all of you on your journey to better health!
I pretty much stumbled on this site from a yahoo search too. I don't even remember what I was looking up now. I started exercise for mood swings and then got all excited about losing weight.
I "advertise" this place all the time. I think what makes me want to promote it isn't the "weight loss success" but because there are resources here for maintenance, exercise/fitness, and overall fellowship for people wanting to make real changes.
