1 cup of halved strawberries is only about 50 cals.

1 cup of raspberries ~60 cals

1 cup of cantaloupe ~60 cals

1 medium apple ~75 cals

1 medium banana ~ 105 cals

There are many others, but those are my favs.

Wow! 105 cals in 1 banana! I never would've guessed that.

It depends on the size of the banana. Look in the food guide here.

Is that because you think 105 cals is surprisingly low or surprisingly high for a banana?

But then, I guess it depends on your definition of "low cal" - I put 105 cals in the "low cal" category, personally.

Berries are your best option, particularly blueberries.

nectarines are 60, 1/2 grapefruit is 35-40, berries are all low, just look up your favorite fruit in the database.

When I first read it I thought it was 105 was high for a banana. I think it's only because I was looking at it in comparison with the other fruits you had listed.

actually raspberries are ur best option. look at the nutrition facts of raspberries compared to ANY other fruit. its ridiculous esp. the 8g of fiber u get in one serving. its the only fruit i eat. All the other fruits have too much sugar and the vitamins can be obtained with vegetables.

ok. here are the best (fresh, not canned!) fruits i can think of, in terms of cal/100g ratio.

30~40cals/100g:

  • watermelon (~30)
  • papaya (~35)
  • Orange (~30)
  • melons (~35)

40~50cals/100g:

  • peach/nectarine (~40)
  • Grapefruit (~45)
  • Berries (~50)
  • apple (~50)
  • apricot (~50)
  • pineapple (~50)

>50cals/100g:

  • pears (~60)
  • kiwi (~60)
  • cherries (~65)
  • mango (~65)
  • grapes (~70)
  • banana (~90)

that said, smaller fruits tend to be "better" if you want something low cal, cause a banana is lower in calories than say a large apple or a mango, and 15 grapes are lower in cals than an orange. (better for portion control. :3) i personally find bananas extremely filling/satisfying though, so even though they're really high in the calories to grams ratio, i still think they make a fantastic 'low cal' snack.

if you don't mind cutting and storing fruits though, melons are probably the way to go.
