Lower Calorie Alcoholic Beverage

Quote  |  Reply

I am meeting up with bunch of my friends tonight, we are meeting at a bar. I would like to have a few drinks with my friends without consuming a ton of calories. Does anyone have any suggestions? Oh...I like drinks where you can barely taste liquor. My personal fave: Midori sours. Nothing too strong, a few weeks ago I had 3 double Midori Sours and I was TRASHED. No joke...could barely walk. So...something tasty, and not too strong. Thank you for your help!

If you can handle beer, it is a good option, a light beer like Miller 64 only has 64 calories.  If beer is not an option, minimally stay away from the premixed drinks like wine coolers, Barcardi Silvers, and Mike's Lemonade as they tend to have a lot of extra sugar and extra calories.  A light vodka and diet soda mixer is a wise choice.  Try UV Vodka (blue) and diet sprite.  Cool

Rum and diet coke is always easy in a bar. For home low cal drunkeness, Baja Bobs no carb mixers are highly reccomended. Miller lite too is getting better I think every year.

Mike's Hard Lemonade has a 100 calories version that I think is pretty good. It also has less alcohol than the original. I've also heard Miller Lite is good as the others have mentioned.

Only bad thing is, light beer typically tastes like garbage.  If you care about taste in your beer, I would go for Sam Adams Light.  It is far and away the best tasting light beer out there.

A good glass of sangria has about 150-200 calories.  I personally love the taste, especially if it has diced apples in it.  If you're lightweight, one glass should have you buzzing.

Another great option is to enjoy whatever drinks you like but alternate one alcoholic drink with a glass of water. Just ask for a wedge of lemon or lime and people will think you have a gin and tonic! It's also a really good way to stretch out the night if you're a light weight. No one wants to be that person who's DRUNK at 10:30pm. Plus if you're usually a 3 drink a night person you'll only be having 2 alcoholic ones, basically cutting your carbs by a third!

Midori sours are NOT low calorie.  They're SO sweet.  Yikes.

I drink vodka & club soda.  1.25 oz of vodka is around 110 calories or so and club soda has no calories at all.  Ask for extra limes or flavored vodka and you've got yourself some yummy low calorie drinks.  And I second alternating a drink & a glass of water.  Helps slow you down, since you're too busy going to the bathroom to get trashed! :-P

A good quality vodka and diet cranberry juice. Add a splash of diet orange or diet pinapple to take away the bite of the cranberry. If beers your thing you may want to try Michalob Ultra Lite (90 cal). I gotta try that Miller 64.

Good luck and HAVE FUN! Laughing

Bars actually have diet sprite and diet cranberry?

Thought they only had diet pepsi/coke?

I know some bars do. You just have to ask for it.

As a bartender I can suggest asking for a half Kabinett or other sweet riesling wine with half soda. Throw in some regular bar fruit and you have a fun and light summer drink that's also got the health benefits of wine. If you prefer a red wine just ask them to give you half a glass and fill the remainder with diet coke. It's very European and it saves you a lot of calories!

Last but not least definitelly drink water in between drinks but ask for soda water instead since the bubbles will fill you up and prevent any late night binges after a few drinks.

I WAS ADVISED BY A NUTITIONIST TO DRINK

VODKA / SODA WATER / AND FRESH LIME

Most Bars/clubs have fresh lime however some are lazy ans use lime cordial. If u specifically request the lime fresh u shouldnt have any problems :-)

It's good to see fellow vodka drinkers in the mix.  I prefer vodka + water + splash of cranberry w/lime.  great drink!
