| How slow is too slow? | ||

Almost every single person on here is about losing weight slowly- and I agree. I'm not one of those people who get upset because they haven't lost 10 lbs in two weeks. But I keep reading posts where someone is claiming they're losing weight slowly...and they're going 2-3 times faster than I am I started out at 5'7", 170 lbs, and I'm down to 152.5 lbs...I've been at it since February. My weight loss has been slow and kind of erratic the whole time- one week I lose 2 lbs, the next three weeks I lose nothing. Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong? |

First of all, good job! You are making progress, and since we all know time goes by so quickly, before you know it the numbers will be lower and lower. A lot of people say how you feel is as important as how much you weigh. There is a lot of truth to that statement; if we were all miserable until one instant where we were suddenly at our goal then it would be a pretty depressing journey. So hopefully you feel a lot better now than when you started. Finally I would recommend measuring yourself to gage your progress. Over time your weight should go down, but weight fluctuates so erratically its hard to gage progress on weight alone. You might tweak a few things here and there, but as long as you are losing and are finding this lifestyle satisfying, I'd say keep going. Good luck :) |

Every metabolism it's diferent. Some people lose more weight in short therm than others doing the same things (diet and exercises) but all depends off your organism. I have read a lot of post of people frustrated because they don't can lose 2 o more pounds in a week!!! but they forget that we put all that fat in owrs bodies in a large period of time and just want that all that disappear quick. Lose 1 lb in a week it's wonderful I'm happy if I can lose 1 lb every 2 weeks!!! Everything it's relative. Keep going!!!!!! and congratulations!!!! and you don't doing nothing wrong you all ready still losing weight!!!!! just give it some time!!!! good luck!!!! |

i lose weight slowly too, especially when im exercising and gaining muscle tone (just thinking of those toned beach legs keeps me motivated!!) just remember that the slower you lose the weight, despite being agonising, your habits will become second nature and your more likely to keep the weight off :) |

I'm losing even slower than that. 55 pounds in two years. When I'm not plateaued or gaining (holidays) I lose about 3 pounds a month. |

First, congratulations on your weight loss. It's probably more typical to lose weight irregularly. As the other posts have noted, everyone is different and even if you eat exactly the same amount every day, your body will respond to it differently. It's a random world, and changing eating habits changes how you metablize food. Slow is always better. You can adjust your eating habits to something you can live with, and you will eventually lose all the weight. I found the only way I ever successfully lost weight was to do it in moderation, changing to smaller portions, cleaning out unhealthy snacks and committing to regular workouts. It took over a year, but I never felt deprived or miserable. Even if you only average a couple of pounds a month, after 6 months, you've lost 12 pounds. And, if you should slack off and let those good habits slide, you don't regain everything immediately. |

You are doing better than I am. I average 2 pounds a month. I like to believe it is because I am putting on a lot of muscle... In any case, I will get there eventually. I focus on the journey, not the goal. It is too far away. |

congrats you are doing fine. also the losing weight slowly means your skin has time to adjust. you dont want to be a skin-sagging-fast-loser do you? & i actually started at your stats 5'7 & 170lbs a couple of years ago, unfortunately i went back up, lost 10lb then, then lost again then went back up to 161 which is where cc found me. all since 2004. you are doing great. |

Hey everyone, thanks for the support. It's great to hear that I'm not the only one losing slowly...I was starting to worry that there was no real point in even continuing if I was going that slow. I keep telling myself that a little is better than nothing, but sometimes it's hard to really convince yourself of that, haha

Not really. 1-2 pounds per week on AVERAGE is normal. That's what you want. Be happy. The slower it comes off the more likely it is to stay OFF. |

Hi, I am losing slowly too - 1 kg per month. So I've lost 5 kilos since March. But on the other hand, I've done quicker diets and after five months gained the weight back + some extra. So I think it's not that bad after all. It is frustrating sometimes, because I still can't fit in a perticular trousers I keep from skinnier days but I suppose that will come too. Keep up the good work :)) |

| everyone responding gave you really good advice. i know that keeping track of your weight is part of the process, but another part is how your body is shrinking. as you put on muscle and lose fat it shows in your measurements. so i would suggest looking at that part of it as an equally important measure of your success. also, you are losing (congrats!), so you are doing something right! give yourself a hand! | ||
