even though i didnt want to have one so soon
we're having company over for dinner, and since im cooking dinner will be relatively healthy...the dessert on the other hand...
For dinner im making salmon filets cooked in parchment with a bit of lemon, white wine, dill and capers
sides are quinoa with bell peppers, green and yellow squash and red onion
and a garlicky anchovy gremoulade covered asparagus
all in all very healthy (as I will also be making calorie conscious substitutions)
but dessert oh my
for my father it HAS to be chocolate. So tonight I made a french silk pie
graham cracker crust
the filling is a stick and a half of butter, a cup of sugar, 3oz unsweetend chocolate and 3 eggs
then to top it all of is a fresh whipped cream (sweetened) with chocolate curls
so delicious and yummy, one of my favorite desserts but SO BAD FOR YOU. Im going to obviously try to limit myself and save calories for dinner and only have a moderate portion but i can just see my calories going way over my allotted amount
and when you add in the wine, oh my.
I hope i dont wind up feeling too guilty
sounds delicious - i love salmon and can't deny my sweet tooth either. fill up on the healthy but definitely allow yourself some of that oh-so-delicious sounding dessert!! you sound like quite the cook :) have fun (and good luck?!)!!
I absolutely love to cook, after I graduate college I want to go to culinary school. I like cooking myself so I can control what goes in and I get compliments all the time so I guess im good at it?
My dream would be to own my own restaurant.
i think its okay to have an off day once in a while...it keeps us from going crazy
as long as you try to stick to maintenance calories so even if you dont lose weight, you dont gain any, its should be fun! :)
Yeah just be sure to send that pie home with Dad. Days off keep me going on the diet. I always feel happy to get back on after a day off.
My brother is like you, he went to culinary school and has worked in numerous restaurants and makes the best desserts. My day off will be Sunday when we are doing a family get together. I will have some healthy food there, but I am going to eat some of everything and not worry. (I've also found on the previous days off, I didn't do as badly as I thought. My body just says "enough" once I get 100 calories or more up.) They diet will start again Monday. I plan to have a day off every 2 weeks. ![]()
I plugged in the recipe to here to see how much 1/8 of the pie would be...
560 some odd calories....YIKE
Yes, I agree. The salmon sounds delicious. I've been wanting to try pouches like you are talking about.
My fiance and I would eventually like to open our own restaurant but I think we may not rush into that quite yet. The economy is not our friend right now and I think it would be a bad moment to do so. Maybe in the next 10 years. He has the cooking talent and I have the personality to run the show. It will be so great.
Good for you for going to culinary school and applying it to your healthy lifestyle.
You have accomplished so much. I really would like to see a before picture of you!
Yeah, so it is an "Off diet" day. Eat some anyway and enjoy it! Savor it! Otherwise, if you're like me you will eat everything in sight for the next couple of days.
Eat as much of it as you feel like eating...you may find you don't want all of 1/8th of the pie. When I do this I usually feel groggy and bloated the next day. (I think that's and hangover from all the bad carbs, salt and alcohol.) So it feels good to get back on diet and helps confirm what I really desire to eat.

Once I can find one Ill most definitely add it. Trouble is about a year or so ago the harddrive on my desktop failed, and since I grew up in the computer age, thats where all my pictures were. If I ever come across any Ill get them up.
Im not quite in culinary school yet, I currently attend Boston University for French Language and Literature. But once I graduate, instead of grad school, Id prefer to go to culinary school

I agree. I have an off day saturday since my family is celebrating my dad's birthday. My mom ordered the most delicious cake and I know for sure I won't be able to resist!
Just enjoy it and get back on track afterwards. ![]()
Well Im trying to fit this gorgeous dinner into my daily alotted calories
and I just finished lunch
and if I can hold back from snacking I have just under 1000 calories devoted to dinner and dessert, so who knows, maybe Ill come in a little under even
Can I come to dinner? LOL
It all sounds delicious!
Haha the more the merrier lilminime.
I pride myself on my cooking. If only I could get my bf to eat more, he's a very picky eater and a meat and potatoes kind of guy. I have succeeded slightly in introducing him to soup (but he'll only eat chicken noodle) and some veggies (green beans mostly)
but his response to most of my cooking is "too much green"
Just the other night I made salmon patties and I made two separate batches, one my way and the way he likes it.
My way had 1/2 a cup of red pepper 1/2 cup green 1/2 cup onion, lots of chives and just enough egg beater and bread crumbs to keep it from completely falling apart
His were just salmon, egg, bread crumbs and a little seasoning packed very dense because thats how he likes them
the first time I made them I made them my way and he spent the dinner picking out the veggies and just eating the meat!
Man I had a boyfriend like that and knew his days were numbered. He'd eat spaggetti with no sauce!!! and I grew up on good Italian & Southern cooking. Gotta have my garlic!
Found a guy who likes cooking and lots of different foods. Been married now 24 years. Gotta enjoy something, you know??
oh my boyfriend loves his food
when I cook a roast or steak or chicken theres hardly any leftovers
hes just not big into the veggies
or pasta really, but he said he'd start trying more.
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE GARLIC
when I was in California for my brothers wedding I visited Gilroy CA the garlic capital of the world! Tried garlic icecream and got some great recipe books.
We're not married yet obviously but we've been together for about 2 1/2 years and we both hope it happens one day!
As for spaghetti with no sauce, sinful, unless its reheated with a little butter and parmesean then, its yummy. But my bfs family grew up on canned sauce BLECK! I make my own, its the first thing my mom taught me and my brother to cook.
well I am stuffed
I didnt weigh everything but I estimated. And i didnt include absolutely every bite but I estimated and even over estimated in some cases
and I still came in at about 1,500 so I doubt id be off by more than 500 and that still puts me at 2,000 which isnt AWFUL
and hopefully itll kick my metabolism into high gear
Ill tell you one thing though
no scale tomorrow
You may feel bad tomorrow too--I always do. Try to eat as regularly as you can and push the fluids/water!
Well I couldnt resist the call of the scale this morning. Same as yesterday 135.8
I hope if I eat well and exercise today that number wont sneak up on me later
