measurements??? sugarkelly24
  Jul 24 2008 15:59

Hi all!  I posted this in another forum but wasn't getting responses, so maybe it is more suited for this one.

I am 5'6'',24/f who currently weighs 143 lbs and have started getting serious with counting calories and daily physical exercise (usually turbo jam and walking) most days of the week- just started serious effort 2 weeks ago.

I took my measurements, as I have heard that they are a good way to track progress (in addition to the scale)

Here they are:

Bust: 38

Waist: 29.5

Hips: 39

My waist/hip ratio is: .75

What is a good long-term goal, in terms of measurements, to aim for?  I do really well with working towards future goals- it helps me stay motivated and on track!

I'd really appreciate others' input :)

hey..I had the same question. I know "perfect" is supposedly 36-24-36....I'm at 32-27-37 and I feel like my waist is terribly disproportionate to the rest of me. You're lucky to have a 38 bust measurement; it makes your waist appear smaller :)

hey leanne... yeah, im just getting started on my fitness routine and the program recommended taking measurements every month.  how often do you take your measurements?  how long have you been tracking your progress on cc/in general?  what types of trends do you see over time?

Good quesiton - have been pondering that myself.

I started out as 33-28-37.  I ended up measuring about 2 weeks into my workout and then again at about 4 weeks into my workout and plan to measure again in a week which would make it 6 weeks into my workout.  At 4 weeks my measurements were 33-28-35, but I also lost inches in my abdomen and arms.  So overall I could see a difference.  Which is good.

I have no clue what is a good measurement - but my goal is 33-25-32.  I'd be happy with that.  :)

Good luck!

Just remember girls that the bust measurement is NOT the measurement around your ribs under the breasts.  You have to add 4-5 inches to that value to get your actual bust size.

EVeryone is shaped differently, so I think it's hard to answer this question. you can't really control where the inches will c ome off either. And I think 36-24-36 is rare.

I would just set a personal goal to lose inches in general. That's what I'm doing. Because even though I would love to lose the most off of my waist, I know me and I know that that probably aint gonna happen. I'll lose more in my arms and thighs and boobs than in my waist, unfortunately. it might be the boobs that go for some or the hips or the butt or the thighs...it has a lot to do with just random geneticism...is that a word?

LOL, yes it is a word.  Gemnetics have a lot to do with the shape of your body.  For example, your calves.  Some people got em, some don't.  Take a look at the older women in your family.  This is likely what you will look like as you mature.
