Will this high cal meal yield fat gain?

Well it depends. Were the 900 calories bad foods or good foods? If theyre good, dont worry and just eat reasonably. If theyre bad, do the same thing but the outcome might feel a little worse.

Whats your daily calorie intake?

EDIT: And besides, one day wont kill you. Just try to get back on track. You may have a SMALL weight gain, but most likely itll be fluid retention (Im assuming this 900 cal breakfast was eating out) and itll drop. It wont cause any huge difference if any at all

Well... I agree with pokemewithpolaris. If Bfast is your biggest meal (highest in calorie) and you are staying in your targeted caloried range for your daily intake and you are buning more calories than you take in, then you should be fine. Sorry about the run-on. The amount you take in per day is is what you want to budget. If you are on a 2500 calorie diet then that leaved 1600 calories or less for the rest of the day. Hope this makes sense and good luck. Smile

If your breakfast was high in fat and you want to counter it for lunch and/or for dinner try some grilled shrimp with a large salad :)  Shrimp is high in protein and low in fat and calories and will really fill you up if you add in lots of greens to the salad.  It is my favorite meal for dinner when I have slipped up. I would cook it at home so you know it is not covered in butter and it is super easy to cook, just do not cook it to long - three minutes is normally plenty.  For dressing I use a 2 second spray of olive oil and a table spoon of balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper.

This is what I would do, too. This is what I did when I had McDonald's breakfast the other day :/

Shrimp are so yummy and so low in calories. I know they are not cheap, but I eat them whenever I can!

if it makes you feel any better, my dad eats a huge (1450cal) breakfast EVERY morning. (he's not a CC-er, nor is he on a diet. in fact, he's been 5'6" and 125lbs for years). And not to mention, he's the only dad i know, among my friends at least, who still has abs and some semblance of muscle definition even. :3 He eats the following:

250cals (3 oranges)

300cals (4 slices of wholemeal bread)

120cals (2 slices of cheese)

100cals (1 tbspn PB)

130cals (1/2 cup pork floss--it's a chinese thing)

350cals (1 large glass (12oz) full cream milk)

200cals (the protein powder/oatmeal/chocolate powder/whatever else he can find to go into the milk and make it thick and yummy)

he never snacks, eats all his meals, and doesn't get hungry except during meal times... (i've also observed that he subconsciously follows the eat bfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper rule)... so no worries. If the 900cal bfast a one off thing, then just get back on track and it'll hardly make a difference. If you're intending to make it a habit, try to fit it in as part of a healthy diet and lifestyle, and you're good to go! (:

I think you should just go light for the rest of the day. Load up on veggies and a little bit of protein. Make sure to drink a lot of water to help with water retention (if you ate a lot of salty stuff for breakfast).

This isn't going to hinder your weight loss if you work with it.

What you should eat for lunch and dinner also depends highly on your calorie goals...

If you go over by a couple hundred cals, that is fine because you can just go for a 20 minute jog and burn all that off!

I know that you probably don't think this sort of thing is "funny".  But the title of your thread just really made me LMAO for some reason.  Hope you get it figured out ;).....I'm sure it will be okay in the long run :)

In order to gain anything at all, you'd have to consume 3500 calories OVER what you'd burn. So, say you burn 1950 calories just living & breathing, you'd have to eat 5450 calories IN ONE DAY to gain a pound overnight. You'll be fine.

That would depend on what else you eat today.  And how much you work out.  Back in my "workout diva" days (competitive power lifting), my caloric intake would scare the pants off the dieters here and the ED folks would probably just keel over.  3000-3500 cal a day intake wasn't unusal just for me to maintain my weight.
