Little problem...I am in a wedding next weekend (so I have 10 days) and my dress is very snug. I can zip it up, but I am so uncomfortable. I already watch what I eat pretty closely, workout a few times a week for at least an hour, etc. So the obvious stuff I already do. I drink tons of water every day, no soda or anything like that. I generally live a pretty healthy life style. And to top it off, for the week in between now and the wedding is my time of the month. So basically the stars are aligned against me.
Are there any little tricks to shead an inch or so before the big day so the dress is more comfortable?
Good underwear (big knickers!)?
How about a good figure control undergarment? (Spanx is a good brand.)
Like others have suggested getting a good support under garment.
Work out more, and eat less(without creating more than a 1000 calorie deficit). Good luck, next time try not to wait so close to the date if you can help it.
spankx.
Ok, I know that "fad diets" aren't good for long term health, but the special k diet is really good for loosing a few pounds (less than 10lbs). Who can argue with a bowl of cereal two times a day?! But, I recommend having some fruit or veggies with the cereal, just to fill you up more. A good dinner with lots of fiber, or protien is highly suggested so that you don't feel hungry. You can also use Slim Fast, but that never worked as well as the Special K
They have all over body shapers at Wal mart for around $15 dollars. I bought one to contain all the post pregnancy blubber, and they worked wonderfully for me. But, just be sure to buy one size larger than you normally wear, or you ARE going to cut off circulation! :))
for short term weight loss (as well as tummy bloat loss), try cutting out carbs. most of what you lose is water but it truly helps with the tummy. however, as soon as you start eating carbs again tho, the weight will come right back on.
and really, 10 days, you can crash diet as hard as you want and a few things will happen 1) you wont lose enough probably to really make the dress fit properly or in the right places, 2) you really wont be doing any long term damage but the weight will pop back on as soon as you stop crash dieting, and 3) dont say it out loud on the forums cuz you will get jumped on.
good luck and have fun at the wedding! (get the dress let out, you will have a lot more fun!)
I know alot of people disagree with low carb diets, but I reached a weight loss plateau at 136 lbs; I was down to 700 calories and working out 90 minutes a day. I started a low carb diet I found in a magazine, you simply limits total carbs to less than 20 a day for 1 week. I eat egg white, cheese and unprocessed meats in unlimited portions, any low carb veggies, and snack on nuts and beef jerky. I substituted lunch with a high protein shake that has only 1 carb and cut out all alcohol. I still drink 3-4 cans of diet soda daily. I wanted to lose weight because I am vacationing in Florida next week, and in 6 days, I went from 136 to 129, and lost 1 inch from my waist. It's amazing. Just don't follow this det for too long, watch the cholesterol and make sure you take a good multi-vitamin. Goodluck!!!!
Thanks everyone! I did try the dress on with an undergarmet of sorts and that atleast helped smooth things out.
And for the record, the dress just came in a month or so ago. I have been trying and trying to lose since, but I have hit a plateau after losing 20 a year or so ago. It can't be let out because of a trimming around the waist...go figure.
Looks like low refined carbs and work outs for me this week!
keep us updated on how its going...good luck!
Don't forget to drink lots of water and keep your sodium down as low as you can to decrease bloating...
Some good tips (sorry copying and pasting just brought all the ads too) http://www.homemakers.com/homemakers/client/e n/Home/DetailNews.asp?idNews=233036&bSear ch=True
I feel your pain, I am 5lbs too fat for my wedding gown. Getting married in 45 days so should be doable except I am lacking all motivation. Cutting carbs down sounds like a good way to slim the middle region down a bit ... I always feel better when I limit my carb intake. Anyways, let us know how it all works out.
UPDATE: The wedding was this past weekend. I was able to get into my dress. I did buy a 'girdle' of sorts, that kept me all in. I watched my carb intake and followed the outline of the abs diet the best I could. I did see a pound or two drop in the couple weeks I had. We all looked beautiful. Thanks for all the suggestions, comments and tips!
