I just can't lose weight. I eat around 1200 calories a day and walk 3MPH 4 days per week and nothing.

marmci- Sorry you are having a rough time.  Heck, I've been a member here for over a year and haven't lost anything yet.  I know how you feel!  However, don't get discouraged and disgusted.  Know this...what you are doing...eating right and exercising regularly is only making YOU more healthy.  Even if the scale doesn't budge. 

I know your frustration though.  You just have to keep trying and remember how good it is for you.

believe it or not, but sometimes a low calorie diet paired with excersize can stall weight loss because the body thinks that it is starving and holds onto everything

many people have had great success losing weight when eating more..

perhaps figure out your BMR and eat that.. or up your calories to about 1500cal and more when you excersize and see what happens

or maybe you don't need to lose any weight and your body refuses to let anything go... stats?

carmin is absolutely right,  I have only 850 some calories  sometimes up to my limit2000,  but the key is exercise,  burn off the calories and the body wants more and will take from the reserve.  equals losing the weight,  build your motabolisim,  I cut my calories but my body adjusted and without the exercise,  I had a hard time losing,   so I walk and ride a bike indoors a few hours a day,  I use small weights for my arms, and use my house as an exuse to bend alot,  I have stairs so I do leg reps with my stairs one foot on third stair up and Push in and out a few times,  and repeat as needed,   when you burn the calories,  your body goes to the back up and takes from there,  hense redusing weight.  It is work but you have got to maintain and do the work to lose.  I get hungry, I grab a celery stick and peanut butter,  Megga hungry Pinapple,  stawberries, blueberries and vanilla yogurt. 3 to 6 oz of each   Full,   I found usiing a lemon pepper for cooking Helps a lot on chicken and fishes,  and I use NO salt  season by ENCORE  1/4 tsp  calories 5 fat 0 carbs 1g, sodium 00000000 none,  reducing water retention,   GOOD luck,

If I could do your regimen with eating and walking I would be proud - not disgusted!!  You should NOT eat less.  Don't excersize harder - but you could try more often and twice a day for shorter periods.  

We cannot "lose" weight.  We can only act in a healthy manner -  eating, activity, and sleeping.

You probably need to be eating more.  Unless you fall into the short category, or have some other issue, 1200 calories isn't much.

Post your height, weight, age, and gender so that we can double check your BMR.
