Hello all. I am 5'2 and 164lbs. I recently joined the site and have been hooked on calorie counting. I am looking to lose 30 pounds by the end of the year so that I can be back to my old wight, (gained the 30 pounds since last november) I am wondering if any of you who use the site often can share some of your weight-loss stories for motivation. When I read about people doing the same things i am doing and talking about how much weight they've been losing, i get extremely motivated to keep working at it. =]

Hey Cantstandu,

I just reached my goal weight a week ago, although am still working on reducing my body fat.  I started at 131lbs in October '07 and I am 5'0 ft tall.  Now currently 105lbs.

This site really helped me with portion control which I believe was my biggest downfall.   I logged almost everday and entered absolutely everything that went into my mouth.

I worked out atleast 4/5 days a week, got a personal trainer and started running.  Running was huge for me...when I first got started I couldn't manage 30 secs without dying!!!  but I started the couch to 5k program and completed my first 5k in May.

There are some amazing people on this site that I've learned so much from, the best advice I can give you is DONT GIVE UP...its such an amazing feeling when you achieve your goal!!

My success story is less about losing weight and more about being healthy. I'm 5'9'' and 146, I have lost 8 lbs since I started in May and want to lose maybe 6 more. Besides that, I finally eat healthy after years of just grabbing and go. I make sure that I get fruits and veggies in my diet and I'm eating whole grains and less fat. People have noticed that I look brighter, I have more energy and all in all feel better. My husband noticed that I'm less cranky and seem happier. So...yes, losing the weight was nice but I'm so happy about feeling great.

well cantstandu 2006, I have alot further  to go  than the other girls that have posted here, but have lost 62 lbs so far. I started at 280, and had terrible back trouble situation ( which eventually led to the 280). my back finally went out on me last oct. and I was in terrible shape until having the surgery in Feb. on the 4th.  before the surgery I lost 13 lbs, since surgery ( and lots of exercise, stretches calorie counting and just healthier life) I have lost another 49 lbs, that is just under 5 months. I am at 218 now and feel so much better. I plan to try to lose at least another 58 lbs. I do not want to be skinny as I am a voluptuous woman by nature but another 58 lbs will put me at 160 and 120 lbs lost.  ( 160 was my high school weight, and I was very active and a twirler etc.  I am 5'6",and a young 41 yrs old.    every one has their own goal and you don't have to be a stick to be attractive.  My goal is healthy me............. good luck and hang in there.

Hey Constandu,

I am 5'2'', 30yo and started at 157lbs.  I reached my goal weight of 120lbs 7 months ago and am now maintaining at about 115. My weight fluctuates from about 113 - 117.  I lost my weight by calorie counting and tons of exercise.  It took me 8 months to reach my goal and I had a lot of difficult days in there.  I just had to realize that one day doesn't ruin all the work and to start each day as a new one.  Even maintaining is hard (just as hard as losing). Hang in there and keep at it.

Sure. Check my profile. Good luck to ya.

I gained 7 pounds last year.  I have tons of nice clothes that I couldn't wear anymore.  That was my biggest motivator.  The economy sucks and money is getting tighter every month.  I refused to spend hundreds of dollars on new clothes because I had eaten too much all year and gained weight.

I am currently sitting at my desk in my favorite pair of dress pants, that I couldn't confortably get into two weeks ago!  I have lost 4 pounds (3 more to go) and I can already get into my old clothes!  It makes me feel great!  Everything looks and feels better now!

Hello Dear,

I lost over 20lbs and still counting....I changed my way of eating, I ate terribly and had no clue how to loose weight correctly. I learned to appreciate my own cooking, and, to do it myself instead of eating out every chance I get. I have mastered, mexican, chinese, and italian cooking without the calories, I even taught my daughter how to count; she has lost 10lbs and is still loosing. So if you follow the advice that is given, don't get bummed out when you do go over, you will be fine. Also water, and exercise will cause you to burn more than you know......good luck, I hope CC does for you, what it did for this little old lady....

Hey!

We have really similar stats. I'm 5"2 and I started around 165-170. I went from approximately 135 to my highest during my first two years of university. I always ate healthy ish food, but I was eating wayyy too much and not working out.

I'm at around 152 right now, after starting to 'eat healthy' for around a month and a half total. I've been using calorie count for 3 weeks of that time.

Good Luck!

Aw. Congratulations to those of you making a better life for yourselves. All your stories are good motivation. I'm sure if I take your guys' advice and keep on looking forward i'll be fine. =]

You can also look at my profile.

I hit 129 this morning!  First time I've seen the 120s in many, years.  Maybe as many as 10 or 12.

Good luck!

hi cantstandu,

for me, this website is a big help. i have started at around 262 lbs, am now at 197 and aim for 140. the information, support and interesting opinions here have helped me a great deal.

I've lost 93 lbs in 19 months of calorie counting, though only about 10 of those have come off since December. I went from 238 to 145 and feel and (I think) look incredible! Right now I am in the process of shifting to maintainance mode, and hope to hold steady in the mid 140s :).

If you check out my profile, there are pics of my progress! Good luck to you!

Hi canstandu

I know we don't share the same stats. If you are interested in people's stories check out my profile.

Good luck with your journey and let us know how things go.

Let's see.  July 2006 I probably would have weighed in somewhere north of 650 pounds.  And it was in November of that same year that I got very serious about saving my life by losing the weight.  Since then I have lost roughly 300 pounds (359 this morning!! Cool), and my fitness in probably the best since I was 16 years old.  Not bad for an old man of 46!!

Well I feel slightly inferior posting right after duke, and I am a long way from my goal weight, but I still feel like a success.

I have lost 56 lbs so far, since January, and have another 90 or so to go. I feel like I finally "get it", and that it's just a matter of time now....I will get there, even if it takes another year or two, I will one day be thin. Crazy! I have been a plus-size woman my entire adult life and I really look forward to saying goodbye to that.

I started at 287, I'm down to 173.  114 pounds and still working toward my goal weight.  It's a lot closer now though and that is EXCITING all by itself.  Check out my gallery...I've got a few progress pictures of my journey so far.

I have to say ditto to what others have already said...don't give up!!

Good luck with your journey and hope to see you around the CC world!

You look really great!  Just curious, how tall are you?  I also started at 238, currently am at 184 and cannot decided on a goal weight.  I'm 5'6.5".  I started with a goal weight of 165, now it's down to 150.  I'd love to end up where you are :)

I'm somewhere between 5'6" and 5'7." My original goal was 158, but when I got there I wasn't as happy with it as I thought I'd be so I kept going! My goal weight was 148 and depending on the day I can be anywhere between 145 and 148.

Feel free to message me if you have questions or anything!

i'm 5'7" and 50.  i started on 9/4 and i have lost 84 pounds.  i just met my goal on sunday & i went from 218 to 134.

i am eating less, eating better & exercising.  the real success will be keeping it off though, i guess.  :D

i feel so much better than i did last year!

I started at 215 in Jan 2006.  I got to my goal of 145 last July 2007, and have maintained that for over a year now (+/- about 5 pounds).  I am 5'10" and am 29 (for 2 more months!) and lost about 70 pounds in total.

Eating better, tracking calories, walking lots, exercising - bike, weights, pilates, boot camp.  I have bad days or weak moments, and sometimes get lazy with the exercise.  I think logging stuff here has made me be accountable and think twice before scarffing an entire bag of cookies.  :)
