I feel like half of an a*s even posting this, however lately I've been thinking about trying a Fat Burner simelar to Hydroxycut Max to try and speed up my fat burn - I'm already a healthy weight yet I cannot for the life of me shed the extra layer of fat on my stomach and thighs - wondering if it's totally irresponsible to try a fat burner?
Has anyone had any experience with them - pros/cons? Any information I get from the GNC, magazines, or online is OF COURSE completely biased towards using them.

They're dangerous and they don't work in the long term. They make your heart race and make you feel jittery. You might not feel like eating, but when your phase with these pills is over, any weight you lost will be gained plus some when you start eating again.
Think of it this way - if they worked, everybody would be thin. They are available and relatively cheap, so, that is that. Don't do it.
Really, the only thing they'll make you lose is your money.
Definitely not worth it. Everything lippygal said is very accurate and my personal experience with them has been horrible.
Honestly, some fat burners do work...if used correctly, you can shed the extra fat and get rid of extra water weight.
I think the best fat burner is lipo 6....that's what's worked best for me :)
Listen, we know it sounds tempting so you aren't alone thinking that. Please trust me, it doesn't work. One of my good friends deeply regrets taking these diet pills a few years ago. She gained a lot of weight when she stopped, and her metabolism is still out of whack. Also, one nasty side effect is the sweats. She'd sweat so bad you could see it under her arms. Not to mention the lack of sleep. Even if its taken during the day, you might not be able to sleep very well at night.

Yea, they work right away for some ppl. Its not good though. I hope you stop taking them if you are taking them now. It won't work out for you in the long run. Please listen to me, I have no reason to lie to a stranger here online. Like I said one of my best friends messed her body up so bad it will never be the same. It's no joke.
I get desperate and want to find a "quick fix" as well : ( I had a client at my old job that took diet pill and ended up w/ a heart transplant as a result!! That was enough to scare me off... BUT, what are your thoughts on natural pills like green tea w/ hoodia? Are they just as bad for you?? Thanks!!
Fat burners do work, but the problem is that they don't work long term and they have a lot of side effects. You are not an a*s, we've all thought about taking shortcuts. I know I have. They help to get the weight down, but your metabolism is sped way up. As soon as you stop taking them, it slows way down, and you wind up putting on more weight than you lost. Also, there's not a lot of research on them. The guy at GNC is just trying to sell you a product. The "research" that you see posted in weight loss magazines? They hire a company or university to perform the study, but they never actually attempt to replicate the study OR show trends on the body post the initial period of use. They will say "shows that 90% of people lost the weight on x product" but they won't tell you, "5 years later 10% of the people kept the weight off after using x product". Don't be fooled. I understand that fat burners are a great shortcut. And that's it.
Speaking from experience, I accidentally overdosed on Ephedrine way back when that stuff was legal. It was working so well I thought I should take more pills b/c I'll lose more weight. I thought I was going to die. I felt like I had a small heart attack or something. So choice is choice. If you do decide to use one of those, BE CAREFUL. Hydroxycut has a lot of marketing power behind it. That doesn't make it safe.
My wife likes those green tea pills. They work for her, but not for me. I think it just depends on your system.
I have often thought of Hydroxy Cut but I always stop myself because of a girl I knew who took it and, admittedly she had other health problems and I believe anorexia, but she permenantly damaged her liver and kidneys. =(
I wish I knew more about what she did, but she was so embarrassed she almost never talked about it. But I know she went to the doctor often and had stopped over two years ago. I imagine she'll always go to the doctor often.
YES. Actually I convinced my husband to let me try Hydoxycut. I was very dissapointed. I lost mayby 3 lbs. The people who advertise the stuff are weight lifters and athletes. This is not for the common person who needs a lift.
I am currently using SlimQuick for the second time. The first time I lost 20 lbs and kept it off! I stopped for a while to maintain my new weight for a while and have decided to go for my last 20. I walk and use an exercise ball, nothing too fancy and I count calories. It was easy.
However, you said you are at a nice weight but need to shed belly fat. I'm afraid that this is the time for serious exercise. It is not easy. I have two children and sometimes I feel I will never shed the belly.
Good Luck
I take hydroxycut max, it helps me have a better work out, and control my appetite a little better. don't expect to lose tons of weight, they're not for weight loss. also if you do take it, or any fat burner make sure to take a good protein supplement with it, because you'll lose muscle mass.
When I first started working out I hit a plateau because I did the same exercise everyday, instead of changing up my routine, I took some hydroxycut to help boost it, lost about 2 lbs (this is the formula without the ingredient that was banned in the states) in less than two weeks I gained ten pounds after taking it....
Will never try them again lol.
I tried hydroxycut and it made me feel like I was coming out of my skin. I was phsycially shaky, I felt horrible, I couldn't sleep. This was on a lower dose than the lowest possible recommended.
I think that they can work for a quick fix but once you stop, you gain weight. And it can cause serious damage to your body even if you follow the directions. I don't think it's worth it but that is just my opinion. I know one woman who has serious, life-long health problems as a result of taking diet pills.
Personally, I'd prefer to be a few pounds overweight and have to fight to take off the fat the slow and natural way, rather than suffer feeling the effects of diet pills or having long-term health consequences.
I've used in the past to help me over a plateau and I'm considering using it again. Some ppl have had bad experiences I didn't.
I can understand your frustrations. Whatever you do be aware of your health and don't become dependent on any pill, weight loss or otherwise.

Hi,
Your recent photos show you to be at a good weight. I am curious about the "layer" of fat you speak of. I get the idea that "layer of fat" means that there is a little bit of jiggle left on the thigh and your stomach shows no defintion. If this is true - there is only one way to acheive that. You guessed it - diet and excersise. You will need a lean (clean) diet and a program that includes lifting weights. (As someone alerady pointed out) all of the "seen on TV" product are demonstrated by figure models and athletes. Not one of them got that way using "whatever" product is being sold.
(((Sigh)))) wish it were not true.... :>)
I' ve used Hidroxycut before......it is good. yes, works, but when finished you will gain the weight again and maybe a little bit more!
So, if you are in the right track right now, trying with a healthy diet and excercising, just be patience you will be the results in one month...... this is not magic is a new way to live your life! Do you understand what I mean? make little changes, one at a time, change bad habits for good ones and sleep well, drink lots of water, and excercise one hour every day, and rest of course at least one day! this is what I am doing and I have lost 33 pounds, and I have almost a year with the same weight..........
So, good luck!
