first let me tell u what I ate and did today before I had myself some BK
10:30AM Breakfast: Oatmeal w/ Milk
12:30PM Snack/Lunch: Taco Salad w/ Beef, spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, onions, salsa, and sour cream
3PM: Lunch/Snack: 2cups whole wheat pasta w/ Beef and plain old tomato sauce and some olive oil
6PM Gym: Ran for 30 minutes
Up to this point, I have eaten 1100 calories and lost 400 on the treadmill. My daily maintenace is 2700 and bumped up to 3100 cuz of the workout. I try to leave a 500-1000 deficit. So basically I was allowed to eat 1000-1500 calories to reach my goal. I wasn't even starving myself or anything the first half of the day. I ate when I was hungry. I know its unhealthy and my body will start storing more fat if I exceed 1000 calorie deficit so I decided the easiet (and most satisfying) way was to go to burger king. I bought a whopper with cheese and a spicy chicken sandwich (no mayo on either). Combined only 930 calories, which was perfect. I'm about to head to bed and I ate a few hours ago and I feel fantastic. I don't feel sick or anything and I feel like I could do this everyday. I'm aware of the obvious high fat content and cholesterol, etc. but it made up for the sacrifice I made during the day. Any thoughts?
Try to get more variety in your diet and try to see beyond the calories and think more about nutrition. A lot more fruit and vegetables would be better for you than planning to eat burgers every day... Best of luck
What is your weight? 2700 calorie maintenance? I weigh 300 and my maintenance is 1800. BK everyday is not good. The triglicerides, saturated fat, sodium, cholesterol..etc.. will be bad on your health.
i weigh just under 200lbs. I'm 5' 6". My healthy weight is 170-175. I know this cause it was my weight when I played varisty squash for the university of rochester when I pretty much ran everyday for two hours with minimal breaks. I was thin, wore a size 32 waist and medium shirts were a lil big on me. I also ran my fastest mile 5:45. So, I'm not one of those people that believe that I'm morbidally obese b/c according to society I should weigh 145-150. I'm noticeably bigger but nothing ridiculous.
Anyway, looking at my "report card" I received a "B" for the day. My sugar content was a lil high and my saturated fat, but I mean I don't plan on always eating a whopper with cheese and a another chicken sandwich. I usually get a whopper w/ no cheese and no mayo and just add ketchup and mustard. It ends up being between 400-500 calories. And I don't eat out that often. Maybe once or twice a month (not included a sub shop). Not too bad. Of course, b/c of the beef, its high in fat and cholesterol, but since I'm eating a balanced diet throughout the day which includes a lot of veggies (look above) I average between 30-40g of fiber a day. I usually try to meat only once a day and for dinner unless I decide to have eggs for breakfast. The beef at almost every meal today is an anomaly. It was left over from last night so I was putting it into good use. Usually I would eat the same stuff w/o the beef (salads and pasta w/ sauce but no beef). Also I'd like to mention that I don't plan on making this a habit, but wondering if it is really that bad. Here's my "report card" btw:
Fat - 31.0% (80 grams)
Protein - 19.2% (112 grams)
Carbohydrates - 49.8% (290 grams)
Alcohol - 0.0%
Other - 0.0%
Daily Sodium Intake - 3,013 mg
Daily Sugar Intake - 70 grams
Daily Cholesterol Intake - 208 mg
Daily Saturated Fat Intake - 27 grams
Daily Fiber Intake - 39 grams
i ate some skittles which added 16g of sugar. :)
sodium is high, but it is the average I've been getting
but cholesterol is right around daily max of 200mg and saturated fat is pretty accurate for 2700 calorie diet.
And finally to answer thax question about my 2700 calorie maintenance is well I entered all the specs: 5' 6", 198lbs, light activity, although I go to the gym 4-5 times a day and run intensely for 30+ minutes, I don't do much activity otherwise so I like to average it out if you will and I tihnk it makes it more accurate. And it told be I burn 2700 calories a day. Which I believe b/c I've already lost 1-2 lbs since last week.
Good luck with the BK diet! I read about someone who just lost a bunch of weight on a McD diet (though he went for the salads and wraps and such).
On the calories burned, if your "light activity" level includes the exercise you do (e.g. the 30 minute run) then adding it again is double counting it, and your calorie deficit will not be as predicted. If you are lightly active otherwise and the exercise is extra, then you are fine by adding the activities. I set mine for sedentary (I work at a desk) and then log in my activities.
Don't forget that as you lose weight your BMR will drop, so keep an eye on that.
I would have to agree with you about the doubling effect if I hadn't discovered this:
Low Activity. You have a sit-down job or one that usually requires three to four hours of walking or standing per day. You have no regular organized physical activity during leisure time or are somtimes involved in recreational activities such as jogging, swimming, or cycling.
Moderate Activity. You participate regularly in recreational/fitness activities such as brisk walking, jogging, swimming, or cycling at least three times per week for 30 to 60 minutes each time.
High Activity. You participate in vigorous physical activity for 60 minutes or more at least four days per week.

I would have to say I fit in the moderate activity on this website. I don't work. I stay home I guess most of the day but walk up and down stairs a lot and go see friends and lot of our activities include going to the mall or in general just walking around. And on top of that I go to the gym like I mentioned, so I think I'm probably halving everything at worst rather than doubling. But if you have anymore insight, you could prove me wrong.
man, that's gross. i wouldn't eat a burger from burger king even if someone paid me. of course unless it was an extreme amount of money.
you could have made your own burgers that were even better tasting and a lot better for you. fast food is terrible for you. putting cholesterol, fat, sodium, growth hormones, anti-biotic and possible cancerous lesions aside. it's overly processed, the 'meat' is put on white bread with high fructose corn syrup loaded ketchup, tons of preservatives. i don't even want to think about it. gag!

i agree.
this isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle change. and eating burger king everyday isn't much of a lifestyle change at all. plus, if you eat stuff like that daily, you may get down to 170-175 again but you won't be as toned or fit.
a burger once in awhile is fine; but there are so many healthier ways to get those calories in. you could eat healthier things like nuts, eggs, nut butters, whole grains, beans, milk, etc.
I LOVE BK Whoppers and have been craving one. I used to live close to a BK and the smell was so wonderful! Our BK was recently torn down and rebuilt, but they REALLY scrwed up----the drive through sux....can't get out of it very well..........they are not getting much traffic after the first two weeks of re-opening. I can't believe they did that. Anyway, after reading your post, I think I will have to succumb this week and get that whopper. Haven't had one for probably 8-9 months! mmmmmmmmmm!
It was overeating/crazy portions/1000 calorie cakes every night that made me gain weight.
Personally, I think sit-down restaurants are worse than fast food.
I think you may be onto something here.
also, i'm not exactly sure how this works, but I have seen it posted before about how you should set your activity level to sedentary if you are going to log your calories. I think choosing moderate incorporates the extra calories burned already, so you shouldn't subtract it again?
So, everyone is taking you to task for eating Drive Thru Burger.
Every once in a while is okay. But if you're interested in keeping up your calories, then try nuts (pistachios or almonds are rich tasting). Just a bit adds a lot of calories and fiber.
I agree with the suggestion of homemade burgers. I can eat a 5oz burger, which is bigger than Drive Thru but leaner and better. I eat it on whole grain bread too.
I save 400 calories for ice cream at night. its great motivation.

You're confused. Your maintenance is not 1800, not even close. Your maintenance is probably close to 4000.
I LOVE Bk whoppers and treat myself to one at least once every 2-3 weeks. Yes not good for you, but for myself if I don't indulge every so often I'm more likely to "fall off the wagon." Plus you did great for breakfast and lunch. I just wouldn't do BK everyday.
go to BK (personally I don't like it) once a week for "indulgence".
I hit the Mcdonald's once a week for my "fix".
Whatever it is you do, enjoy it. You are cute!
haha... thank you *blushing*
