(edit: changed the name of the group, since everyone is at different days
)
So since I've started using calorie counter, i've lost 15 lbs and I feel great! But more recently I have starting bingeing horribly, my stomach feels like a bottomless pit and nothing seems to satisfy me. I know how horrible it is, and the reasons why I binge(whether its emotional/life etc) but nothing stops me.
I have come to the notion, that I keep telling myself 'never again' although this just starts the bingeing cycle. The all or nothing thinking gets me everytime and usually if I eat too much before noon (aka over my calorie intake), i just put everything in and keep eating like that all day because the whole day is ruined.
NEW THINKING: I'm going to move on and don't let my overeating result in ruining the rest of my day.
I found this in another forum, and I want to quote it: it really pushed me to make this post :
"It's a misconception for us bingers that binging is inevitable. The urge to binge, like the urge to do anything else, can and will pass if we give it time. But time is also an issue for us. We tend to be impulsive by nature and once we feel we've hit that point of no return, we believe there's no sense in trying to stop it. Having said that, there is also wisdom in knowing your triggers and staying clear of them for a time, learning how to deal with your emotions/stresses in a more effective way, and getting support."
Anyways ANYONE who wants to start this no bingeing journey ...join.
WE can get through this TOGETHER one day at a time.![]()
I'm in!!!!!
I don't want binging any more!! So we can do this together!!!! I really want archive my goal!!!! so let's DO IT!!!! NO MORE BINGING!!!!
I am so in. I need to stop binging!!
I know technically some would not call this binging, but I have the same sense of out of control eating and the throw caution to the wind attitude. This has been going on for the past few months and I'd like to get a handle on it. I feel like if I don't I'm surely going to regain all of the weight that I have lost.
Anyone else struggling with something like this?
okay I just ate a **** of food.
but it's not july 22nd yet... so tomorrow I will start NO BINGING. I hate the way food has control over me.
Do you guys have food that just triggers a binge? Like once you start, it goes downhill from there?
excellent!! so tomorrow we will start. Brand new day, definately need to take this one day at a time.
I'm an emotional eater .. so when I'm happy, stressed, sad etc. I will eat. Once that side of me is triggered, and I go over my calorie intake. It goes straight to the 'all or nothing' attitude. And thats when it goes downhillllll. What triggers your binges?
As well, eating 500 calories over your daily intake at one time can be considered binging. Binging is more psycological, its the attitude and mind set that confirms if its a binge.
Everyday we can come on here, and support eachother on how we did during the day. If you feel a binge coming, feel free to rant as much as you want. What is motivating everyone?
For me, I am going on vacation and my body is no where close to bikini ready!
So tomorrow's goal: complete one day without binging!
We can do this!
I'M IN!!!
I've had a bad few days and am going camping this weekend and really don't want to binge. I too am an emotional eater and have been under some severe stress because of getting a new job and having a 3.5 year old son and carbs and sweets (more carbs) are usually my vice. So tomorrow is DAY 1 of No binging!! GO US!!
Step one of addressing the issue is recognizing that there's a problematic behavior we want to address. Step 2 is tomorrow where we all commit to making a change for the better and for our health! We can do this!
Rock on everyone!
I am so on board!
I am a bored binger... and my job has been a bit of a snoozefest lately. I am emptying out the the snack drawer first thing in the morning! (and not into my mouth!)
I am also in! This is the first day of my food and exercise log. I am already a better eater and calorie counter person today. Thanks for being there!
hurrah! i'll join :)
as I was walking home from the gym, I thought about what I ate today and I realized that I had successfully avoided a binge. It was just about to happen. I came home from work and had just reached my 1200 calorie limit. I was just about to reach for the almonds (my weakness) when I thought,
Wait. Why am I doing this? Because they taste good, because I am bored, because my ex-boyfriend just called again?
I listed reason after reason and none of it was because I was actually hungry. So instead of watching TV, knowing that it'll prolly lead to binging, I got up and went to the gym.
Success! hurrah!
I rewarded myself with an apple after the gym. 1270 calories today. :)
today was day #1 for me.
i made it through the day :)
leaving for mexico on friday...not a vacation, its a missions trip, but there are tons of people going who are totally comfy with their bodies and i wanna make sure im one of them!
so here i am...IM IN :)
I think that for me being tired is what causes me to binge now a days. I use to eat more for emotional reasons but tired or bored is what brings it on now.
Good luck to All-Dianne
DAY 1 DAY 1 DAY 1 DAY 1 DAY 1 DAY 1 DAY 1 DAY 1 DAY 1

I'm with ya.
Had another binge last night. I'm going to start fresh today.
I don't know why I did it. I was at my calorie limit and it was 8:00, but for some reason I felt I needed a string cheese. Then, some pita chips and hummus. Then an "On Track Snack" bar, then tortilla chips, then dried cherries. I swear, if I could have just held on 2 more hours until I went to sleep, everything would have been fine. I wasn't even hungry!! UGH!
I'm starting fresh today. Today I will not binge.
I'm in too. Hope it's not too late!
Doing good so far today!
I'm doing good so far today.
Do you guys ever have trouble figuring out if you're really hungry or not?? sometimes im not sure if I'm eating because I'm hungry or if it's because I'm tired, bored, feel like eating.. etc.
Oh man. This group is so needed...in the past four years or so, binging has become a huge issue for me. I'm usually not very hungry during the day (probably because I'm good about sticking to the plan, which involves healthy, filling food every 4 hours..hmm.) And then at 9 or 10 at night, I'll decide I want to eat something- not that I'm at all hungry, mind you, and then I want something else, and something else, and at that point I might as well eat any food that I've seen in the past week...really great cycle.
I'm going to Mexico in a week, and I'm so bummed because laying out on the beach is not going to be all that fun for me.
Today has been great so far, I've really been trying to keep myself busy.
Generally my binges occur from emotional reasons, so Im generally not really hungry. If you binge because you are hungry its most likely because you have deprived yourself of calories during the day.
Emotional Binge:
-guilt
-fear
-worry
-anger
-sadness
-happiness
-bored
-tired
Physical Binge: (aka. this would be the one if you are hungry)
-overly hungry
-deprived of calories
Emotional AND Physical:
-The forbidden fruit, aka wanting something you don't allow yourself and/or shouldn't have.
Alyssam - you should definately eat more during the day. Probably foods with high fibre, this way you wont feel the need to over indulge at night. As well if you know that your problem is late at night. Have veggies/milk etc. ready. And come on this forum and discuss how you feel before you binge!! If you wait 10 minutes (I know everyone keeps saying this) it actually works, you dont feel the need to binge anymore.
I have a hard time stopping once I'm in the mindset that I've blown it for the day. I think that's something I need to work on. I catch myself thinking "well I'm not going to lose today so I might as well indulge. I need to change that way of thinking. How did others do today?
