How to run when your a girl with big tata's and roll(s)

Yes it can be done!  I started out at 310 and am now at 208, and have been overweight since about 5yrs old.  Its safe to say I never was able to run the mile or even an eigth of one.  But after hitting a plateu on elipticals I decided if I wanted to keep losing I have to jog (somehow).  I am a DD and two roller (please we all know what I'm talking about).  So how do I run without worrying everyone hearing my rolls clap for me, and having severe chest pain?  I came up with this solution through trial and error.

First you must find a very supportive sports bra, and this means it must have clasps in the back and adjustable shoulders, just the stretchy ones WILL NOT WORK.  Expect to pay $20-$40 for one and just buy two of them, its better than 5 cheap ones that do nothing.  I say if you can to get them tight but not tight to were its digging in your sides.  (champion.com) I'm a huge fan of their sports wear.

Second over the sports bra you get one of the full length sports tanks that has the shelf bra in it. (i.e. the Champion ones at Target or champion.com) and get a size smaller than your normal top size, go to target and try them on, and ALWAYS remember the jump up and down test, who wants to be pulling the shirt back down all the time!  Target even has some that have a tie at the waist...PERFECT! This adds tons of support for the roll issue..and it's actually MORE comfortable than nothing.

Last you just throw your t-shirt on, hey your layered and even though you sweat a lot more you still don't feel it too bad because all of the bras are made of wicking material.  I guarantee this will make you less self concious and WAY more comfortable in your efforts to start running.  Start out at 1min jog then 1 min walk, and increase your running segments every week....trust me it gets easier!! (PLUS as an added perk if your tshirt works its way up during your workout, HA no one will see anything but your sporty tank!)

That is terrific, practical advice. Wow, good for you! Sticking with it, working it out, and becoming so much healthier in the process. Very inspiring!

Thank you so much for posting this!!!  I'm 5'1", 187lbs, mostly boobs and rolls, and this is just the kind of advice I needed.

Now if I can actually jog for more than 15 seconds without wanting to die...

Sweetemotion, I did a very similar thing for karate after the examiner told me  I was "too  ahhhh wobbally" (large tatas).  I too utilized the 2 layer system. 1st layer excellent support--breasts where they should be and no extra shimmy or bounce on my shake and jump test.  2nd layer is compression. A tight tank or leotard. With the first layer keeping them in place I didn't feel like I was wearing my breasts around my back. Surprised

I recommend you pay good attention to your shoes, status of your knees and hips and the surfaces you use. Stay off of hard surfaces if possible.

The hardest goal is too start, the second hardest is to avoid the excuses to stop. If pain is an issue, then pay attention. Otherwise enjoy the accomplishment of increasing your endurance. Man does that feel good---hard work, but often it is something I never thought I could do and I am doing it!

I too am in this situation. I hate running for this issue, and the you know, getting winded issue! But 1 minute intervals actually sounds doable. If I can push a stroller with a 20 lb. baby for 45 minutes, surely I can run a little bit?

I used to wear 3 bra's when I first started.  A really good sports bra with lots of support, adjustable back & shoulders.  On top of that one of those crop sports bras that you pull on (gives the uniboob look), and then the vest with the shelf.  Those puppies never budged.  I've lost 30kgs since I first started running, and (sob sob....) this is no longer a problem.  I still wear my 3 bra combo though, in a desperate attempt to keep the little I have left from sagging any more than they already are!!!  Happy running all xxxx

I wear a bra that is a size smaller than I should be wearing. It's not tight, just keeps the girls in place. No double bras, and my D's are secure! It's just a regular Champion bra from Target. (That clothing line is AMAZING. Check it out. It's cheap and cute!)

Better yet, who cares what you look like while running? At first I was all 'oh no, people will look at me!' but guess what? You're out there for YOU, not THEM. Do you, and bump the rest.

First of all congrats on your weight loss!! you should be very proud!!

Thanks for the advice I too have been blessed/cursed with lovely lady humps(DD) and have been afraid to jog for that reason. I'm heading to Target after work and hitting the treadmill ASAP!!

I 100% agree. Ive got a big ol chest.. esp compared to the rest of my body and a little bit tighter sports bra has always made running way better.

i have heard this also (wearing more bras). good to have the info from more sources

It is doable to run a minute and then walk one minute or even two (I had to in the beginning).  If you keep just doing it over and over again and then increase the running interval once it starts to get easy you will progress slowly, and wow the first time I ran over 5mins I was so excited!  (I think I was the only person smiling on a treadmill)

Thank you everyone for the congrats..I needed that today and you all helped me.  I hope I helped somewhat too, if you have any questions similar to this or anything please do not be afraid to ask, hey we all think about it!
