To polarize or not? Runners?

I'm getting new prescription sunglasses and I want to know if it's a good idea to fork out the extra $100 for polarized lenses. I do a lot of running and driving.

Some people really seem to hate them. Do they offer better protection? Any user reviews? Comparisons?

Thanks!

My mother has trouble with driving at night and has her prescription eye glasses polarized.  It seems to help her a lot.

My sunglasses are polarized and I love them.  They are not prescription and still cost me $175.   I can wear them them till the sun is almost down, and they work great in the rain.  Hope this helps.

I actually hate polarized lenses, but I'm wondering if they were just done improperly or the technology has improved (I got mine 3-5 years ago).  But the ones I had threw off my depth-perception and made everything very reflective.  I also think they gave me headaches (which I normally never get).  I think it's a personal preference.  But I'm guessing that a local eye doctor or sunglass store would have a pair that you could try on to see what you think.  Just make sure you try them outside before you buy them--if all looks good, then they're probably a good investment for you.

Sounds like they did it wrong. It's supposed to both improve your depth perception and make things LESS reflective. I bet the lenses were at off angles to each other.

I have polarized sunglasses and I love them.  I use them for running, biking, and driving mainly but those activities are the majority of my outside time.  They knock out practically all glare and I know I definitely squint less now which in turn means I feel less eye strain.

Thanks, guys. I guess I'm still undecided. It's a lot of money, but I would like to squint less. My eyes are so tired after a run, but right now I'm wearing NO sunglasses...

How do you people run with sunglasses on? I have yet to find a pair that don't make me want to throw them to the ground and stomp on them, yet I'd LOVE to be able to run without all the brightness
