Chromium question?

Anyone out there using chromium to reduce cravings, lessen afternoon slumps!!! Just wondering? I'm so tire of my afternoon slumps .... come 4 pm all I want to do is snak off to bed (not possible unfortunately) and I'm getting really sick of it. Plus it's a bad time for me re: trying to resist sugary snacks.


Thoughts anyone.

Just use a glass of water, or some tomato juice. Chromium doesn't work. Stay away from sugary foods and msg. They make you get the hungries.

If you think the chromium will work, it'll work..... :-) But if you want to stop the afternoon slumps and cravings caused by low blood-sugars (hypoglycaemia) try avoiding sugary or highly processed foods and refined carbohydrates and replace them with more 'whole' foods. 

A high sugar food is anything with more than 20g sugar per 100g....  Processed foods will generally have more than 5 ingredients.   Refined carbohydrates are things like white bread, white rice, white pasta.  Check the labels if you're not sure.  A lot of foods that claim to be 'healthy' e.g cereal bars and diet products are actually the worst offenders.

Instead.... choose wholegrain foods e.g. wholemeal bread; wholefoods e.g vegetables and salads; and always have a portion of protein with your meal... eggs, meat, fish, beans, tofu etc.  The combination of fibre and protein is particularly filling and sustaining.

Mid afternoon plan yourself a light snack.... e.g. some high fibre crispbreads with a little peanut butter,  some fruit, a low-fat yoghurt.  This helps keeps your energy levels and blood-sugars stable.

If this works for you.... look up 'Low GI diets' via Google. 

I also had this problem but I started eating four meals a day and I am never ever tired in the afternoon any more.  I eat a snack ( 1 cup of black beans, or 1 cup 1% cottage cheese, or fruit of some kind) at 11:00 and do not eat my lunch until 2:00.  Ever since I did that I actualy have to find more caloires to eat at the end of the day because I am just about always satisfied and need to make sure to have enough calories. 

 

In High School I was a Wrestler and tried everything to keep my weight down.  I used cromium for a while but some one told me to eat Grapefruits instead.  I thought it had the same affect on me but was much more natural and better for you.  Maybe throw in a Grapefruit at 4:00 and see how much better that makes you feel.
