Who knew that Applebee's fiesta lime chicken with rice and tortilla strips has 1285 calories in it!?!? Not me. I cannot believe it was that bad. I am so eating off the menu that has published calories. They may be understated, but they can't be as bad as the published ones for this entree.
What's the worst surprise you've ever gotten at a chain resteraunt when you logged it on CC? Maybe you'll save some of us another mistake.

Gah! That is horrible! That used to be my dish when I ate meat/ate out at crappy chain restaurants! I've gotta say -- going pescetarian has really helped cut out all this ridiculously horrible-for-you food!
I think the biggest surprise I've had since I started really watching my calorie intake was movie popcorn. I thought I was being a good girl by not getting butter or salt, and then I found out how many calories and grams of fat it is just plain...yikes. :(

That's About.com's article on eating smart at the movies!
My worst surprise was a small veggie sandwich from Quiznos... I did a quick preliminary research online before I ordered it and found something that said a small veggie sandwich had 227 calories... So I ordered that and had a serving of chips on the side for a grand total of less than 500 calories... OR SO I THOUGHT. Later when I logged it on CC, it said a small veggie sandwich from Quiznos was over 500 calories by itself!!! EEEEEK!!

(raises hand)
Well, maybe not the exact count, but over 1,100 doesn't surprise me at all, given the three types of sauces, tortilla strips, and the rice.
The biggest surprise I've gotten was with Quizno's chicken ceasar salad with the flat bread. Now, I know better than to expect a decent cal count with the dressing, which why I always use my own light dressing with it. But I discovered the bread alone is over 300 cals - which disappointed me quite a bit. It was good bread. (sigh)
either movie theater popcorn or jimmy john's vegetarian sub. it's 550 for a sub. i had it minus mayonnaise and cheese thought, so, it probably wasn't that bad.
yum jimmy johns.... **drool**
They have the option of making your sandwich with lettuce rather than bread (even though the bread is the best part). The bread alone in their sandwiches is about 400 cals-- I get the turkey tom with no bread, in a lettuce wrap WITH mayo and cheese for about 250 cal. Yum.
Jimmy John's website lists the info for all their sandwiches, plus you even have the option of excluding certain ingredients to see how the calorie count changes.
I found out that my fav sandwich, minus the mayo brings it down about 200 calories, to about 550- reasonable for a lunch with a diet pop, in my opinion. Plus I still get the yummy avacado spread, which I LOVE!!
Totally though- I used to get the fiesta lime chicken thinking it was a healthy option (to be reasonable, I didn't eat the tortilla chips) I won't do that anymore.

If you're talking about the Beach club (#12!), that's my favorite too!! I also get it without mayo. Or if you ask they usually have light mayo packets, which adds about 25 cals if you use one packet!
