Has anyone gotten sick and dropped weight like woah? I've been sick for 3 days and dropped 3 lbs. in 3 days. Better yet, have you kept that weight off? I'm not going to lie, it was a pleasant surprise. I'm eating healthy and exercising 6 days a week, and have still dropped that weight. I'd like to keep it, y'know? |

Thanks, but I highly doubt it. I drink about a gallon of water a day, everyday. I'm still very confused about the whole thing. |

waelkd, of course. Every single day I drink a gallon of water, since I'm usually pretty active and need it. I may be a little dehydrated even so, but 3 pounds worth of water weight?

k i have been doing soem reading,it seems if u get sick speccially with a fever the increase in body temp. and losing appetitie actually makes the body to start converting the fat in the body to a primary source of energy as for fat is 9 calories a gram facing the 4 calories a gram for carbs.
so yeah it might be fat loss ;-) |

i'm not sure... but i got sick last weekend, and i dropped about 3 pounds too. i thought that it was just water weight and my weight would go up pronto, but it remained there, and a few days ago, i got my period--which is usually accompanied by bloating (i was totally caught unawares despite my mood swings cause unexplained weight gain is usually my indicator for TTOM.) just keep on doing what you've been doing, and keep your fingers crossed :3 |

waelkd, LOL I hope so! I hope you didn't think I was being snippy, but it's so mind-boggling! I didn't have a fever but I was all mucus-y and it was (and is) horrible. Grr. doedoebird, hahaha. Sometimes illnesses are mini-blessing for weight loss. I'm not trying to be greedy and keep all 3 pounds but it would be lovely!

| I got sick once and lost 8 pounds in 3 days. I was like... woh... wtf? I just slept all day, drinking water and eating max at 800 Calories (before you all drama on me, it was because I was sick and nothing was getting past two tonsils the size of small plums!). | ||

Lucky you! I'm jealous. Whenever I'm sick, I usually end up eating more because I feel like my body needs the food for energy. Normal people lose weight when they get mononucleosis. I actually ended up gaining weight >_<. But then again, it went undetected for some time, so I thought my tiredness was just due to not eating enough which led to binging -_-. |

Original Post by gadzooks: You're not the only one who gained weight while sick with Mono. My husband, towards the end of our sophmore year, got Mono and ended up gaining weight, himself. He never lost his appetite but obviously couldn't move around as much. Though I still can't believe his parents didn't realize he was a little sicker than they originally thought until I told them. I thought that he was a bit sicker than with the flu or something else. =/ I was like, "Uh, he can barely move out of bed and has an extremely high fever and you think he's faking??" They did think he was faking at first until they saw the 103 fever, but even then they didn't take him to the doctor until I said I don't think he's getting any better. And then whoops, he has mono! Better part of this story: His dad was the one who got to stick him with needles to run blood tests and run IVs and whatnot. Even better than that, though, was the fact I never contracted mono from the whole ordeal, when I certainly could have. =D |

Original Post by armandleg: My doctors refused to believe I had mono D: My parents had to demand that they test me for it after my psychologist even commented that I looked rather sickly. I had become more depressed and lethargic and slept for days. I would go to sleep after I got home from school and wake up the next morning which made me fall behind. I got these killer headaches that caused my vision to go all spastic. It was horrible >_<. The doctors even made me get a CAT scan before a blood test for mono! |

I was in hospital with a burst appendix (years ago) I was in there for about 2 weeks and the 1st week I was ill, with a fever, and couldn't eat anything. I was on a drip. The 2nd week I was getting better, but still didn't eat much. It didn't help that it was a rare hot UK summer. I lost 2 stone. I put it back on though once I got home and started eating properly. I couldn't do any exercise either. |

I've been sick since Saturday night so I haven't been very hungry... and my tastebuds are messed up so that anything sugary/sweet tastes really WEIRD and unpleasant. I didn't weigh myself for a couple of days because I felt too bad, but this morning I stepped on the scale and I was four pounds lighter than I was on Friday! I went from 206 to 202 in four days... and I'm surprised because I've had so much more sodium than usual each day from eating frozen dinners and canned stuff instead of fresh food that I expected to GAIN. Sounds like I've got the same virus you had goddess... |
