| Guess how much I gained yesterday | ||
| Jul 20 2008 20:25 | ||
I fell off the wagon again. I had a hectic day yesterday and overate like a mad man as a consequence. I ate a TON of pizza yesterday, probably an entire large pizza, and 2 donuts. I'm about to jump on the scale now. I wonder how much I gained... |

.5 is your guess? That's kinda low, no? I ate probably an entire pizza and 2 donuts, plus a bite here and there of random stuff like crackers. Haven't jumped on the scale yet. I will in a minute. |

My guess... 2.5 pounds I went out with friends last Wednesday, ate very well, but drank SEVERAL greyhounds, and gained 2 STINKING POUNDS!!! It took me until TODAY to lose them!! Ugh!! |

I'm guessing 0.5 pounds, too. It takes 3500 calories to put on a pound. You probably didn't manage to eat a whole 3500 calories. If the scale is up though, it might not be all of yesterday's food. It could be water retention (lots of sodium in pizza), or it could be that you haven't had time to digest all of that food, yet. |

I'll go with 5 lbs -- but it is mostly water from the excessive sodium. A couple of days with extra water and you should be fine |

.5 weight gain was right. I was active (walking non-stop for 7 hours) yesterday so I guess that helped. |

My grandma used to say the food you eat today won't show up on the scale for at least two weeks. I'm not sure how true that is, but one day of a large pizza and a couple donuts won't kill your diet. I agree with the others, probably no more than 0.5 lbs of actual fat. I once weighed myself 3 times in 20 minutes and got 3 different weights. The first time with clothes on pre-bathroom break was a whole 4LBS greater than the last time, naked post-bathroom break. You should weigh yourself once a week and try to be as regular about it as possible, same time of day, same clothes (or naked), after going to the bathroom, everything the same. My mom goes to Weight Watchers and they weigh you in once a week and she makes sure she's wearing the same clothes and she certainly makes sure that she (excuse my potty mouth) poops before she goes! Besides, healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs per week. Weighing yourself everday won't speed the process anymore. For me (because I used to do it too) it was just discouraging. |

Original Post by heyale: I think that depends on your personality. I weigh myself every morning (same pjs) because it would drive me nuts not knowing if my loss/gain in a week was real or if it was just due to natural fluctuations. Weighing myself every day, I get to see those fluctuations and it makes me not freak out if I gain a pound overnight - as long as it doesn't stick for several days in a row. I just tell myself I weigh the lowest number I've seen in the last week! :-) I can see how that might not work for other people, though. |

Hah! I knew it! I figured if you'd gained anything it was water from sodium. I don't think one binge day causes true weight gain, just as one dieting day doesn't cause true weight loss. |

Heehee it's funny to see this post cuz I did the exact same thing last night - also with pizza.

I too had a lil overeating this weekend and gained 1.2 lbs but I'm hydrating too and I'm hoping in the morning I'll see how much damage I really did. |

I had a rough Friday and Saturday and Sunday morning I was up 1.8 freaking lbs! Hopefully I can undo it this week! So, we all feel your pain. We've all been there and done that. Every day is a new day! |
