| Too much chocolate? | ||

Is there such thing as too much chocolate? I fit it into my calorie allowance and maintain my desired ratio of 30-20-50, but I was wondering if it is too much to have about 30% of my calorie allowance to go toward chocolate. |

| 30% would be too much. Chocolate, although lovely, is just sugar and fat and therefore not particularly good for you in large amounts. And the real downside is that you'd be trying to get all your nutrition from the remaining 70% of your diet... which is difficult. | ||

What if it were the very dark kind that is at least 85%? |

Wouldn't very dark chocolate have less sugar and more healthy fats in it though? Oh well, I guess I get the point though xD |

I eat a good dark chocolate everyday as well. It is high in antioxidants and flavoniods, and keeps me from overindulging in some other not-so-good-for-me things. Just remember, there is a difference between Hershey's and a good quality dark. Its more than just sugar and fat if you're eating the right kind. I am a choco-holic...extremely dark chocolate, I buy the 85% cacao by Lindt. Just a little something I've taught myself to do...rather then just munch down a huge amount of chocolate to satisfy my craving, I eat it VERY slowly, actually tasting each and every bite. I know this sounds weird, but put a small piece in your mouth and just let it sit on your tongue until it melts...seriously taste it, don't just wolf it down. You'll find you eat a lot less of it that way, while still satisfying your craving. 30% is waayyyy too high. I think the 2 squares of Lindt that I indulge (20 grams) is 105 calories, 2.5 grams of sugar, 9 grams of fat. I only eat it when I've had a mostly low-fat day, so there's room for the added treat at the end of the day. Hope that helps somewhat! Robbyn |

Original Post by msrobbyn: I eat it slowly, too! I have always thought that if you eat it fast, you don't 'experience the flavor' as much. Hahah. |

Haha I eat it slowly as well - it takes me an hour to down those 2 squares. I was just wondering if I could fit those in maybe twice a day as snacks xD |

| Go for it w_s! If it fits in your cals and you feel good, go for it! If you find that you're gaining weight, back off the choclate squares. Other than that, if it fits, go for it. | ||
