Which is worse?

It's the weekend (hurrah), and hence, a well welcomed cheat day!  On cheat days I allow myself a little more freedom with my diet beyond the realm of bran flakes, fish, veggies, pulses, and brown rice.  My question for all of you is which do you think will be worse in the long run; indulging in a couple glasses of wine or a cup of Haagan Daaz?  I know that neither is particularly great for me but neither will "ruin" my diet either.  Thoughts?

It's a tradeoff; the wine doesn't provide any nutritive value, but it will be fewer calories and no fat.  The ice cream provides calcium, but is sugary and fatty (and of course oh so good).  What's more important to you?

I would go for the wine, its more fun :)

although ice cream is fantastic...

replace your milk and yogurt with the ice cream then have the wine :-D

just kidding, but I would still go for the wine, because it really is more fun

Wine it is...but in the aftermath of a couple of glasses of wine, I think that I will have lowered inhibitions about that scoop of cookies and cream as well...haha

Wine would be the better choice, because red wine has other health benefits & is lower in carbs. It would also depend on if you have the 1/2 cup serving of ice cream or not. (I like both things, so I would probably try to figure out a way to have both)  LOL

go for the wine............ glug glug hiccup.

Wine is good ;)

BOTH. RIGHT NOW. if you're living on brown rices, pulses etcetc for rest of time then you deserve it!

xxsx

Why don't you go for ONE cup of wine AND a 1/2 cup of ice cream, that way you can indulge in both and still keep it within reasonable limits. ;)

1/2 C. of Haagen Daz is about 300 cal.  1 glass of red wine is about 100 calories.

how bout a glass of wine and a frozen yogurt? there's nothing quite like a glass of wine (to me at least), but frozen yogurt (topped with granola) is so yummy and so much healthier than ice cream that it makes me feel happy just thinking about it.

Responding to your post, I should tell you that I am a personal trainer. Diet is not my specialty, and I cant give you professional advice, but here is what I would say:

Best Pick: 1 glass of wine (antioxidants)

Next Best: 1 cup of ice cream (actually measure it out, and once you put it in the cup, PUT IT AWAY so you dont go get more ;)

Best of Luck
