| Another little victory (over pizza)! | ||
| Jul 18 2008 21:13 | ||
So my company bought pizza for all today .... from a place whose pizza kicks butt and is so tempting ... but I held strong! I went into the kitchen to heat up my can o' soup (my originally planned lunch) and told anyone who asked that I "had a project due and was working through lunch" (that way, I'd have an excuse to get out of there, away from temptation), grabbed some salad and my soup, and headed back to my desk. Now, I could've fit a slice, or even two, into today's caloric budget ... but I'd rather have wine tonight! It all about choices, right? :-) It made me feel very strong and in control, AND I truly didn't feel like I was depriving myself. Yay me! Anyone else have a little victory to share? |

Thanks, guys!! And I agree, you have to take it one step at a time. If I'd felt completely deprived by not letting myself have any at all, I would've had one slice & called it good ... moderation is the key! |

Sweet! Way to be in control and keep control of your own food intake. If they gave you a heads up about the pizza, you may have just planned for it. Since it wasn't in the plan, congrats on making the move that felt best for you. :) |

Original Post by durgy: Thanks, Durgy! :-) I was quite proud of myself ... and my assistant, who was the only one who knew that I really didn't have work to do at my desk, was pretty impressed, too! She's a very sweet girl and acts as my cheerleader at times during this weightloss journey. Anyway, thanks for the support! |

I went to a picnic yesterday and the plan was that everyone brings their own food; I had a full meal at home and just brought a thermos full of coffee, because I am so far past the days of mindless nibbling and snacking and I didn't want to idly chew down tasteless calories in the form of finger food at the picnic. All was going according to plan until my friend pulls out a gigantic pillow-sized bag of potato chips - actually, they weren't even potato chips, just some kind of mashed potato starch reshaped, covered in salt and deep-fried - and offered it to me. I turned it down and for the next two hours the bag lay right in front of me, but I managed to not even have one bite. I know I wouldn't have enjoyed anyway. What really makes me proud is that instead of focusing on the frickin' chips, how much I supposedly wanted them and how I couldn't have them, I just forgot about the whole thing and had a great time sipping my delicious coffee and talking to my friends. I have come too far to be taking orders from food it seems. I'm no longer obsessed. |

Good job & way to go! I think the little victories make the big victories even more satisfying, because you know you've worked that much harder. I had two parties to attend to today. At the first party, there was ice cream cake which is one of my absolute FAVORITES, from Dairy Queen. When I said no, everybody started teasing me with it, trying to entice me in every which way but I stood my grounds and said NO. The next party I went to had a bunch of fatty good stuff... cake, ice cream, yakisoba noodles, spam musubi (a weakness for hawaiians), and cookies... I ignored it all and went straight for the pork, chicken and fruits! I'm super proud of myself. I did good yesterday and today, although I didn't have the time to workout today, hopefully tomorrow. Yay! |

Original Post by mztenderheart02: Man, it's the worst when people make a big scene out of it. Can't they just drop it and move on? Much respect for staying strong through that! |

The other day I had a coupon for a free coffee drink and ordered a coffee milkshake (hey it was free so no calories - right?).
Right before the girl started making it I changed it to a skim milk ice coffee. I felt very satisfied with myself. |
