Just starting out....needing some advice!!!

Hello all!

Yayyyy! Finally doing something to get healthy! Anyway, I am really unsure how many calories per day I should be eating for maximum results, and how much exercise I should be doing. Some of you CC experts can probably help me out alot. Stats are as follows:

21/F/5'9/236#/ lightly active/medium build

 

I want to be successful, but I need some help!

ME TOO! I just ordered The 10 Minute Trainer and I have Walk Away the Pounds. I have been using Little Black Book Daily Food Diary to track what I eat. ITS WORKING! Good Luck to you!

Use the CC tools to calculate your calorie and burn requirements.  I get 1850 cals/day for you to lose 1.5 lbs/week and reach 145 lbs by Sept. 2009. 

Seems like a long way off, but it's not!  It's healthy, steady progress that you want if you're going to keep it off.  First thing to come to grips with is that weight loss won't happen overnight.  You need to be patient and (mostly) disciplined about what you eat and how much you exercise. 

This doesn't mean you can't splurge sometimes.  If you're too strict with yourself, you'll burn out and fail.  Let yourself have fun, too.  Set yourself little goals (5 lbs this month), but be flexible.  If you only lose 4 lbs, so be it.  Keep on going, and the 5th lb will be lost eventually.  If you drink 5 cocktails on Saturday night and blow your calorie limit for the whole weekend, so be it.  Drink lots of water, and get back on track the next day.

Good luck.  Be sure to use the search function to find answers to tons of questions, and feel free to ask about whatever else is on your mind.  I'm no nutrition/exercise professional, but there are lots of professionals on here who can and do give great advice.
