Need sodium advice

Quote  |  Reply

So, I've been counting for a little over a week now and have noticed that I am always under 1000 mg of sodium. I know that there can be dehydration issues if sodium is too low...but what exactly is too low where sodium is concerned. I'm on a 1000 calorie deficit diet - which ranges between 1200 and 1800 calories a day - 5'8" / 226 / medium frame. Thanks!

Between 1500mg and 2400mg sodium is advised as a healthy amount.  (About 1 teaspoon salt in total)  It's difficult to consume too little sodium since it is naturally present in a lot of common foods, including fruit and vegetables, cheese, bread.  As long as you're getting a good range of different foods you should be fine.
