Food at Work - What do you eat??

Quote  |  Reply

Hello!

I used to be really good with CC, went from 135lbs in Dec07 to 115lbs in May08. I hopped off the boat with 5 pounds to go!!! thinking i could do it myself. Didn't work out so much trying to do it myself. I find myself back at 125lbs now... oh well. So here I am again!!

I was wondering what you guys all do for packed lunches to bring to work, what snacks you use to much on when you get the mid-morning and mid-afternoon blues, before working pick-me-mups and such.

Any and all comments welcome, just looking for new creative ideas to spice up my workday!

Thx loves!

Personally I take a piece of fruit, sometimes I will have some melba rounds or 2 pieces of bliss chocolate.

I eat breakfast here at work so I eat my Special K for breakfast, then around 11:30 or so I eat a piece of fruit (usually an apple or banana), then around 1 or so I eat my lunch.  Some kind of veggie mix or something of the like, then around 3pm I have either another piece of fruit or my Fiber One bar.  Then I go home at 5, usually have dinner between 6 and 7.  I usually eat less calories during the day and have more for dinner.

cheese and nuts for snacks

leftovers for lunch or a salad from Wendy's

if your office allows it - yogurt is good and so is veggies with a dip

I bring a big bowl of fruit for breakfast and munch on it all morning.  I also bring nuts (usually almonds), cherry tomatoes, and carrots.  For lunch I usually bring leftovers, but if I don't have those, I will bring a sandwich or large salad.

It's hard but maybe you should try to focus on something other than food to pick you up or get you out of the blues.  Emotional eating could be the cause of your weight gain.

Lately I've been bringing mixed veggies called simply steam from green giant as lunch or as a side for lunch.  I love them because I am lazy and all I ahve to do is throw it in the microwave.  They have a lot of different kinds, they are pretty tasty and are anywhere from 30-200 calories per box.  Plus, its a great way for me to get my veggies in for the day.  My favorite are healthy weight (black beans, snap peas, carrots, edamame beans) and the roasted potato one...I don't remember what it's called.

For snacks, I bring raw almonds(yum), yogurt, dark chocolate, and flavor water packets.

I bring the following for snacks at work:

  • string cheese
  • yogurt
  • an apple already sliced into pieces (using an apple slicer gadget)
  • a Clif or Balance bar
  • a McDonald's fruit and walnut salad
  • a bag of 10 almonds or already shelled pistachios (20)
  • cold bottled water
  • 100 calorie popcorn
  • strawberries

I'm lucky enough to work in an office where my assistant and I have a mini-fridge in her cube that we share - making it easy to have perishable stuff close at hand. Anyway, here's what I usually keep around ...

  • Melon, cubes up and pre-measured (1 svg each) into little, disposable, snap-top containers. I buy a melon or two on the weekend, and prep, then take to work for a few days worth.
  • Low-fat, chewy granola bars (90-100 cals and great when craving sweets)
  • Pre-portioned (into little snack-size baggies) Trader Joe's Pretzel Thins in Everything flavor or other types of crackers.
  • Bananas, nectarines, pears, apples,etc.
  • Lite, fat-free yogurt
  • 100-cal popcorn bags

i take my lil lunch box with :

-half sandwhich pbj or lunch meat

-gram stix

-cup of fruit

-string cheese

-kellogs k bar 90 cal

-bite size choco 1 piece snickers!

-water and a diet soda

-mixed nuts

I eat every 2-3 hours.

Before work:

3/4 C. Kellogg's bran flakes, 1/4 cup fiber one, 1 cup strawberries, 50gr. blueberries and 1/2 cup 1% milk.    250cal.

Snack:

1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1 serving fruit, ie: nectarine, peach, pear  150 cal

Snack:

1 weight watchers yogurt, 1/4 cup fiber one.  130 calories

Lunch:

Village hearth light wheat bun, low fat ham, turkey, roast beef   150 calories

2nd lunch at home

Egg white omelet with veggies, steamed veggies.   250 calories

i eat TONS when im at work! it usually consisits of...

9am bowl of special k

11am 2 satsumas

12.30 il have 2 weetabix with a muller light yoghurt on top, with a packet of salt and vinegar snackajacks and an apple

3pm i munch into rice cakes.

i then have dinner by 7ish

I snack a lot (and spend a lot of time at work). My lunches typically include fish, veggies and some side dish (rice/polenta/etc.) I don't do meat and I find that starch-only lunches like pasta salads make me sluggish.

I have a whole repertoire of snacks. Here's a selection:
* Miso soup packets from Trader Joe's
* Carob spirulina bites from Whole Foods
* Cereal, fruit & yogurt - sometimes I eat them together, sometimes separately
* Almond butter
* Hummus
* Crudites (whatever is in season)
* Cheese (although I hate the plastic taste of Baby Bels and the like)
* Milk & soymilk
* Kavli or Ryvita crackers

I also keep a frozen meal in the freezer for emergencies.

Im glad its not just me! I feel like I snack so much at work versus when im at home.

I keep Gerber Puffs at my desk they are great when you just want to much, mini raisin packs, almonds, sugar free Kraft puddings (dont need refridgeration), kashi honey puffs, kashi cherry chocolate chewy bars, rice krispies (low in calories for amount you get and you can put them in yogurts when you want a crunch)
