Alright - I know y'all don't know me - but 2-3 months ago, I was the laziest (and luckiest because I was only about 120 lbs @5'3" doing NOTHING exercise related) person.
I'm finally holding steady around 113-115 power walking at least 30 mins but more often than not 45 - 60 mins a day, and today, for the first time, I RAN (yes, didn't 'power walk', I RAN) 1.8 miles without stopping, walking, or wimping out. I know it's not a huge deal to most, or at least many, but I did it :)
My work has challenged everyone to either (a) lose weight if they need it, (b) lose body fat %'s if they're already a healthy weight, or (c) choose a goal and keep it (i.e.: sign up for a 5K, 10K, half or full marathon in October) if they neither (a) need to lose weight or (b) have a significant amount of body fat to lose.
I can't WAIT to weigh in with the Nurse on Friday, tell her I'm going to work to reduce body fat by a % or two (not sure what's reasonable) and run at least the 5K in October - I'd love to do 10.
..... just excited and had to share.....

Great Job!! watch out it gets addicting :-)
;-
That's great! Good for you! Let us know how you manage in the 5k.
WOOHOO! That's great. Running is the most awesome exercise as long as you enjoy it (which I do). Keep it up!
1.8 miles for your first fun is something to be proud of! When I started running, I struggled just to do 1/10 mile.
It is addicting, though. I love it. I'm recovering from a summer cold right now, and the thing I hate most about being sick is when I can't run.
When I first started running I was at a decent weight (135lb at 5'7") and could barely get around a small track!
I'm not built for speed, but now that I have been running for many years, I could run forever and ever. Well not right this moment because I took a couple of years off (long story). I'm running again and I feel like strapping my shoes on and never stopping.
I love running.
yes, this is spirochete. No one hijacked my account
Congrats enjoy all of your victories big and small.
that's hella aesome! I started running more back in April and could barely get a two mile run in without stopping and now I'm up to 7 mile intervals or a 5mile run without stopping!!! It feels great to have come so far with deligent training and hard work! I was a sprinter when I was a teenager and trained exstensively in short and mid distance sprints, and struggled so much when I tried out for cross country only 2.5 miles! But look at me now!
Running feels great, and I know I need to get used to getting outdoors and off the tredmill, but so far this is a great workout for me, and I love the results of running longer distances!
I only have 4 more pounds to go until my goal of 125. But I'm also hoping to join my first 5K run this fall, and possibly throw in a 10K too! Congrats, and good lluck!
Keep me posted on your progress! It be great to trade some tips with each other!
That's friggin' fantastic! You deserve to be very proud of yourself!
Heatherlanders is right, running is VERY addictive! I trail run, am completely addicted, and up until 3 years ago was the LEAST athletic, laziest girl you'd ever meet! And I still don't like much else, exercise-wise (I'll do the elliptical when I can, and weight machines for strength, but THAT is it), but I truly adore running on trails! The next thing you know, you'll be running all over creation!
Good for you, keep it up!!
