Any 1st time mom's trying to lose weight... ttmckoy73
  Jul 09 2008 21:47

I am a first time mother trying to lose weight.  Before I had my daughter losing and maintaining my weight was so easy. I worked out and ate healthy.  Now, I am always tired and I have a hard time kicking the bad habits I adopted during pregnancy, like OVER EATING!  I get up every morning and run 3 miles or so with my friend, it’s the eating I need to control. My daughter is 8months old and I have been trying to lose weight since she was two months.  I have been on Calorie Count Plus (4 times), Weight Watchers and I joined LA Weight Lose with no luck.  It all comes down to getting accustom to the life changing experience and having self control. My goal is to lose a minimum 15, 20lbs by her 1st b-day in November.  Anyone want to join me.Kiss

I'm also a first time mother trying to lose weight. Before I conceived my baby boy, I had JUST lost 20lbs, which took me 4 months to lose! Now my baby boy is 6 weeks old and I'm trying to lose the 30lbs I gained during pregnancy. My goal is to lose 100lbs by July of 2009 (next year!).

mztenderheart02- welcome and congratulations on the new baby...I love being a mommy its it the greatest!  I like you started when my daughter was around that age. I am so looking forward to getting this weight off.

When did you start CC?  How did you lose the 20lbs before you got pregnant?

Congrats to all the new momma's! I too am a new mother, my baby boy is 5 months old today and I also gained 55lbs while preggo. I ate EVERYTHING while I was pregnant, my friends loved going out for dinner with me because i was guaranteed to order dessert and share it!

I resolved to adopt a healthier lifestyle after giving birth and I am now less than 5 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight! I started CC and working out when my son was 6wks old as well. Now my focus is more on body recomposition than weight loss but I would be more than willing to offer any advice to those of you just starting out.

If I could do it, so can you! Get out there and make your body proud!Laughing

Hello All- the weekend is almost gone...weekends are the hardest for me, but so far so good. Saturday I was even under my calorie goal.  I weighed in and I lose 3lbs so just 15 more to go before I feel fabulous.

I hope everyone had a fat-free, low calorie weekend.

Hi everyone.  I just joined CC today to try to lose the baby weight that is hanging around.  My son is 11 months old today and I have to admit that I finally reached frustration level with the last 10 pounds.  My husband had a great philosophy that it took 9 months to gain and it can take 9 months to lose.  Now that I am at 11 months, I decided to start watching calories again.  I have so far lost 20 lbs post-baby, but these last 10 keep hanging around.  I would love to know what you are all doing.  I am having a hard time fitting in exercise.

Laurie

Welcome Laurie-It sound like you are on the right track having lost 20lbs.  I think counting calories will help you get the last  10lbs off, but if you could exercise that would help even more.

Hi everyone! I might as well go ahead and join this forum because in 2 months I'll be working toward the same goal--losing weight after baby #1. He's due in September and I'm already so paranoid about getting that weight off (in a healthy manner ofcourse as I plan to breastfeed)...desperately need as much of my body back as possible as it is a HUGE issue with me and how I feel overall (obviously, I'm on here, counting calories and 8 months pregnant; just trying to keep up with what and how much I'm gaining; I believe I'm at at about 18-20 pounds gained so far). What's working for everyone? Anything special?

Welcome alisongantt, this forum does not seem to have much activity.  Maybe it will pick up soon.  I am moving to another calorie counting site.

Good luck to everyone on your mission to lose weight.

Take care and be healthy

I'll be joining as soon as this little one makes her appearance.  I've never weighed so much in my life.  My knees are starting to hurt :(  my hips too!  Safley say she'll be out by mid-next week if they induce.

OMG I'm going to have a real baby!!
#14 alisongantt Jul 23 2008 17:37

Yes you are!...I understand, I too am working on 15+pounds over the MOST I have ever weighted!

Congratulations and keep me posted!  I know you can't wait--me either!!  I'm going to need some encouragement to count these calories down once Baby Gantt arrives. :)

Right there with you.  My daughter's 9 months so the "I just had a baby" argument is out the window.  I gained 60 lbs during the pregnancy.  I used to work out a lot and watch what I ate.  I was sick most of the pregnancy and developed some terrible eating habits.  Now, I'm back in the swing of things and that doggone weight must go!

#16 ttmckoy73 Jul 24 2008 16:32

Goodness attygnorris, our pregnancies sound just (gained 63lbs)  a like and we both had girls...my daughter is just one month younger then yours. It sounds like we have the same about of weight to lose.  Welcome!

#17 vanessa1031 Jul 24 2008 17:01
alison-  I love your pregnancy pic!!  you look great, and so happy!

atty-  i used to work out soo much.  I crave the gym!  I miss it so much!!

ttmckoy-  its very safe to say that I will want to loose about 40-50 pounds.  I conquered 30 pounds before I got pregnant; so I can do this!!!

(I just need to have her first, LOL)

Anyone have FIOS?  I know they have a channel called FitTV.  I watch some of the workouts and am excited to do them.  It will be a good start to getting my fitness level back up when I can't leave the house.
#18 ttmckoy73 Jul 24 2008 18:59

vanessa1031- I never heard for FIOS....I used FitTV a lot when I was on leave having my daughter....I also invested in "The Firm"  I really enjoy using the workouts.

Ladies- Do you all want to set a weight in day?  Would you all like to check each day and make comments on how well we did in terms of calorie counting for the day or week?  I know this can take time and we want to spend every second with our little ones but this may help keeps us on track.

Hi everyone! I am in!

I've put off getting my weight back down since my son was born. I keep making excuses so this time I have to stick to it. It's a little discouraging sometimes because everything seems so hectic. My son is kind of demanding, he requires a lot of attention. When I do finally get a free minute the last thing I want to do is use it to exercise, I want to rest. And who has time to sit there and count calories when you literally have 5 minutes to eat something, you just want to get some food down so you can recharge. I was 118 prepregnancy and gained a total of 27 lbs, I am still at 145 10 months later. I haven't lost any of it! but to be fair I haven't really tried. I'm actually more comfortable with my body now than before my pregnancy, I just want my tummy a little tighter, want to feel healthier and have more energy. I started CC about a week ago and it's been going ok so far. I found it's a little easier to plan my meals ahead so I know exactly what I'm putting into my body, cut out the fast food and processed foods. It feels kind good Smile

I am totally in!  Today is my first day back on CC.  I have a 5 1/2 month old little boy and for the 1st 3 months I was SOOOO good!  I gained 42 lbs with him and lost 35 in 3 months.  Now for the last 2 months I have been hanging onto these last 8 and I still really need to lose another 10 on top of that.  Getting motivated is the hardest as I am a working mom and when I come home all I want to do is play with our son, not exercise!    I have a great talk with my husband this morning and am feeling good that I am motivated again!  I need help and encouragement though, why is it SO tough!!!!
