Friendly CHallenge 1 -->  try some new activity!!!

I have owned a handmedown stationary bicycle for 10+ years and maybe used it a total of 15 minutes in all that time.

my cc friend mykanos inspired me to dust it off and I have bike 25 miles in 2 days and LOVE IT!!!!  EDITED TO ADD:  just weighed for the first time since the scale said 175 post TTOM a few days ago and it said 166!!!  that HAS to be the biking and yardwork adding up!

I cannot wait to hear from all of you on how you stay motivated this summer!!!!

Hi Olivia

Came from the lose 10 pounds by___date.

I am wavering between 133 and 135...have been for awhile now.  Switched up my workout to more weight lifting and less cardio because I do not like cardio I did not push myself.  I am getting a HRM so I can tell if the weight lifting is getting my HR up.  I believe it is.  I will continue with some cardio because it is just good for you but I so hate it.

My goal is 125.  I am 5' 2" and almost 43 years old.  I feel younger or would that be immature!!!  I have 4 children 20,19,17,16 (merged family, I adopted my husbands daughters 19 and 17)  The 16 year old is the only boy and I will keep him and sell the rest.....lol.  Anyway, I  was 113 pounds for most of my adult years until about age 36, I do not know what happened and I do not like it.

Kim

hello!

here is a fellow loser from your other groups:-)

feeling good today. back at 199 lbs (my lowest weight) after several das of eating reasonably and walking a lot. this also means my bmi is 29.9 (from 30 upwards it is "obese", so i am now back to "overweight":))

i am in the middle of my journey (want to lose about 60 kilos, lost about 30) now. having a holiday now, enough time to ponder and plan, it is sort of a good time to think, reflect and plan for the future. and yes, also for all that facial scrubs, lotions, potions etc:))

#4 olivia77 Jul 09 2008 20:41
did you think I wouldn't know where you came from, kim?  =P   of course, I cannot wait for all you girls to venture over from the other post!!!!!

you know --I attract young at heart kinds of people, I am 31 on the outside, 13 on the inside, and hope to forever maintain that enthusiasm/silliness.   LONG LIVE THE CHILD IN US ALL!!!!    Listening to you talk, I imagined someone younger than myself actually --- keep up the good work weight lifting!!!!  ( do you hate all cardio or just  XXX????)   <--  I love it and want to convert you!

yay, ka!!!! you made it.   and OMG ---  yay for being down!!!   and for being "overweight"  -- isn't funny how a percentage point can change our own definitions.......????
#5 ka2007 Jul 09 2008 21:27

hehehe, 29.9. instead of 30 and hey:-)) i have defined myself as "very overweight" before, as i just dislike the word obese, so my own feeling is pretty much shifting consistently, but this was another nice thing that happened alond the way.

it is greta to have a quiet day in-i had time to read through many posts here, enough time to shop (for boring items such as rubber gloves or milk, BUT i got miself a nice glass cup for my coffees, so i am fine:), and now whem it is 10.30 pm i do not have to say to myself "oh i better go to bed now, i have to wake up early":-)

i hope you are having a nice week too, and have enough time to play!

#6 olivia77 Jul 09 2008 23:13
lol, ka --  sounds like a good day.  ( :

I am off and on most evenings until 10 or 11...  holler on here, girl!

I'd like to get some evening and weekend chatters going, as that is when most my girls are gone and quiet.  and that's the hardest time for me.....
#7 immom Jul 09 2008 23:46

Hello fellow losers!

I'm 158 today. Down 19 total so far. Yay!

I haven't rollerbladed in years. Does that count as new activity Olivia? I'll try this weekend when my kids are with their dad. That way if I fall on my a$$ nobody will seeTongue out.  Or maybe I'll get my bike going.

The temperature is pushin 100. Going swimming. Have a good day ladies!

#8 olivia77 Jul 10 2008 00:22
heck yeah, immom!!!!   how FUN --  I asked for and got a pair in college for Xmas, used them once, and promptly put them in the garage sale pile.

I have no balance at all.   OF COURSE -- what a cool new activity!! I bet your kids will be amazed  : D

LOL, but I love playing the pool, running as you know, and now biking.  ( :    I did 15 miles today.....  new activity is good.  it shocked my body into doing something!    X D
#9 carrie317 Jul 10 2008 17:05

Hey all, can I get in on this?

I'm a 19 year old college student trying to lose some weight before I go back to school in the fall!  I started at 158 at the beginning of June, am 152.6 today, and hope to get down to 140 by September 19th, which is when I go back.

As far as a new activity goes, I don't know...I never learned to ride a bike, so that's out of the question!  And I don't have any rollerblades...

Suggestions anyone?  Right now all I do for exercise is run three times a week.  I'm too cheap to pay for a gym membership, hehe :P.

#10 gypsierose Jul 10 2008 17:38
Hi everyone, I need a cc friends to get me going. Saw dietitian yesterday , joined the gym and ready to get going. I gained a lot in the last year when broke leg and wheelchair for 5 mo. so taking in 10lb. at a time. I go back to work Aug. 5 and would aleast drop some to feel better. I'm 51 so hard to get this stuff off. I want to do 15-30 exercise a day , walking, gym whatever to get going.  Will check in tonight to see where we are going with this and what we are going to do.   I need help.
#11 olivia77 Jul 10 2008 22:57
walk too with handweights....  have a dog you can borrow?  work out in your living rooms doing abs, pushups, squats, lunges, etc.  I doo all kinds of stuff.......

sorry, gyspie....  good goals--  keep your chin up!

challenge for ALL!!:  eat consciously.   really taste your food.   slow down....  it takes 20 minutes before your body realizes it is getting full.....   drink lots of water too!

WE CAN DO THIS!!!!

-----
on another note, do we want to keep a running format of personal goals/stats/etc?

amaresmom sort of did that for us for a while and I liked it... speaking of which, where is that girl????
#12 sunshineeyesoftexas Jul 10 2008 23:45

I'd love to be a part of this group of losers! LOL :)

I'm in college and trying to get down to 140 by the time I go back in August. Last weigh in (early june) I was at 157 from 165 in April... My pants are starting to fit loose, so I think I'm almost there! I'll find out when I go to my yearly physical in a couple of weeks. Wish me luck!

My final goal is to be down to 135 by Thanksgiving (so I can gain it all back on Turkey day! j/k! LOL)

#13 ka2007 Jul 11 2008 02:42

re "do we want to keep a running format of personal goals/stats/etc?  "

anything to keep us motivated

(after unexpectedly binging last night, i really need lotsa motivation myself:-)

#14 immom Jul 11 2008 05:39

I think its a great idea too. I know it motivates me when its in my faceTongue out

Went to Kung fu Panda. I loved it! The kids did too!

Just got off my elliptical worked so hard I almost didn't make 30 minutes! Feels great.

I've got 2 of my friends looking for rollerblades. lol They wanna fall with me. I am severely lacking coordination - as in I have none. This could be dangerous Laughing So if you don't hear from me on Saturday you'll know I crashed bad.

Sorry so scattered. I am to right now

welcome all newcomers!!!!!    it is good to know you and I like learning/using people's real names when possible, so I shall try!!!

miss carrie ---  I <3 running!!!!!   I do more than the C25K right now, but I wish I had been aware when I first started!!!!!  it rocks, and certainly simplifies everything....   come chat with me/us on the Couch to 5K Motivational thread started by restless girl......  I have an early morning runners post in fitness too.   I love jogging with my doggie very much!!!!

miss tori/gypsie  --  I like Friday weigh ins myself, but feel free to post whenever works best for you....  wish I had somewhere to hike without driving, BUT I think Monday I will get up and go run with dog through Wilderness Trails.  yay for hills and not boring Kansas flatness!!

miss sarah/mom --  wish I had an elliptical (or access to one).  do you think my local girls only gym would let me have a free workout or trial week period????  I'd love to try other new stuff since I like the biking so well after years of avoiding it like the plague????   I am in awe of you, you know that, right??????   I can barely take care of me and the bf and bets, let alone real, human children.............    I <3 7-11 too.   ( :
#20 zenasavvy Jul 11 2008 18:30
