What would you order off this menu niccimax

To stay "low cal"

I'm thinking prawns or smoked salmon to start and Sea Bass or Dover Sole for mains.

Thoughts?

I am trying to be extra good this morning so I can save 1/2 my daily calories for dinner.  Is that reasonable?

if you want to stay low-cal, why get a starter? i'm sure the dinner portion will be big enough to fill you up.

the link you gave didn't work for me, but i was curious, so i googled the restuarant's menu myself, and personally i'd order the seabass fillets on the bed of baby spinach and i'd ask them to either hold the fennel sauce or serve it on the side.

as for the starters, all of them look pretty caloric to me. maybe have a salad at home before you go out?

and yes, being extra good during the day and saving 1/2 your calories for dinner is perfectly acceptable.

Thanks!

Its a big client function where everyone orders both - guess I'm just so used  to doing it. I could skip it and just have the main.  ;)

can you order a salad instead of a starter or as a starter?

i would think the restaurant would allow that; i'm sure they get stranger requests.

if you do order a salad, avoid the caesar salad, crutons, bacon bits or anything of the sort and ask for the dressing on the side.

enjoy by the way :)

I agree; I think ordering one of the items listed under "vegetables" would be better as a starter, although if you must get a real starter, I think the prawns would be your best bet.

As for mains, I would suggest the sea bass plain grilled, although the entrecote doesn't sound bad either.  If you do happen to order smoething that comes with a sauce, order it without since most of these sauces seem like they're very fatty and therefore high-calorie

I tend to order a starter as a main course and a small salad as my starter (just like ericainrecovery)...most restaurants are more than willing to do this.  my downfall is the need to have wine with any and every meal out!

I ordered the green salad to start (listed under veggies) - but only ate half

And had the seabass and scallops with spinach and brocolli.  No sauce.

WAS GREAT!  so yummy.

thanks everyone :)

I'd order the Salad Nicoise without the potatoes and dressing on the side

Or

The Grilled Swordfish Steak

Or

The Fillets of Seabass

or

The Dover Sole

....Holy Moly - this restaurant has so many good things to order!!! I am jealous!
