Cheap sources of protein?

so far im eating like 12 whole eggs a day, a couple scoops of whey, and alot of lean pork, all of this stuff is cheap but if i want to get anything else i have to cut coupons and wait for sales, then freeze. does anyone know some good sources of cheap protein

i generally get london broil on sale. are there any meat products you know of that are relatively cheap i eat beans and nuts for carbs/fats

 Ground sirloin, and any other cuts of meat you can try to get on sale. Check the papers before you go. Many stores have their papers available to view online.

Beans and rice make a complete protein together and are the absolute cheapest.  Especially if you buy the beans not canned.  Soak the beans overnight before cooking them and they'll taste really good.

Eggs are the next cheapest.  You can hard boil them, the best way is to put them in a pot covered just over the eggs and let them sit for 10 minutes to bring them up to the temperature of the water.  Then put the heat on about medium high (7/10) and bring them to a boil, this will take around 12 minutes for a dozen.  then once they've boiled, turn off the heat, cover the pot and let them sit for 20 minutes.  This makes them really easy to shell.  Hard boiled eggs make a great snack, you can make egg salad, deviled eggs, etc.

Whole chicken, then london broil or other cheaper cuts of meat.  Make a crockpot stew out of these and it's not too tough and is pretty darn healthy.  Look for cuts that have been out a bit longer and are going to expire or if you can afford to the larger packages.

i second the chicken and canned tuna/salmon suggestion. fyi littleshellys, egg beaters end up being more expensive than buying a dozen eggs. yes, they're lower in fat. but thats why you just separate the yolks from whole eggs! :)

Seitan is relatively cheap, I can get 500 grams for a petty 1,25 euros (the protein is not complete, mind you). Soy is affordable, beans and rice was already mentioned, maybe dairy if you drink it?

I don't buy just the egg whites. I buy the regular egg beaters. I don't mind paying a little more for a healthier choice.

Maybe I should posting my reciepts when I shop once a month on  a welfare check. I have gotten down to eating a slim 4-8 ounces of red meat on a GOOD WEEK. This has things under control incedently .It needs to be bugdeted with your income {more self discipline}  write it on the calendar you will plan a budget early. What ever you recieve for monies divide up front what you will pay for in groceries until your next paycheck. It takes a little bit planning and skimping on meat because you can trade-off  weekly nuts, tuna, meat  products and not buy them all at once. Most of your  diet {once again self-discipline} will consist of veggies, corn ,broccoli {raw or frozen} you can eat  it  thawed out with out cooking its nearly the same as raw, just get salad  dressing. You can freeze fresh  raw veggies for later use{carrots,broccoli,cabbage,aspargus .,commonsense}. And seperate your meat if your forced to buy bulk for servings 2 twice weekly or one a week. Look forward to eating stable this way so that will anticipate the budget and be familiar. This is my welfare trick.Check out my PICS

Chicken, lean ground turkey, canned tuna, egg whites/beaters (to save yourself the cholesterol from whole eggs), beans (you don't need to combine beans with rice to make a "complete" protein... this is a myth, as long as you are eating a balanced diet you should be getting all you need)

also, you might try to find a cheap source of tofu, or some other soy product

Costco... Rack of Eggs, Chicken Breast in bulk, Ground Turkey in bulk (8+ pounds for $13.00)  Trying to get big and so I buy in bulk and freeze what I don't use within 7-8 days.

The Wife and I by most of our food at Costco with Executive Membership (pays you back a small % of your purchases) and never pay a membership fee every year becase the % back covers the cost of membership.  Great place to pick up all your fruits and vegetables ect. ect.

dried beans, rice.  Those are the two cheapest sources of protein out there.  And beans have a lot of other good things in them too, like calcium and iron.
