I lost weight at an average of about 1.5lbs a week. Started quicker, but by the end it was more like 0.5 - 1lb a week. With some work and a few slips here and there I've maintained my weight for just over 3 years now so I'd say that slow and steady approach was very effective. How much are you trying to lose?
trying to lose about 20 pounds at a lb a week, current bmi of 24.something, so hopefully will be done by december/ january time. im finding with higher cals im not all out binging like in the past, but i am consistently eating about 2300, about 400/500 more than i should be! hopefully this will even out.
Because you're not overweight, weight-loss would naturally be a little slower than someone that is very overweight. The advantage is that by taking your time you'll have a much better chance of ditching bad old habits, learning better new habits and developing a good healthy-eating/exercise routine. By December/Jan you're going to be pretty consistent. All of that makes it easier to maintain the weight-loss long-term.
Im currently loosing 1 lb per week. I was expecting more because when I first started my journey I was loosing about 2-3 pounds a week. Now that I'm getting alot closer to my goal weight my body is only letting go of 1 a week and I have to eat about 1450 calories to do this. It's not bad at all. It's been consistent for me for about 3 months now. I haven't gained anything just loosing.
