Still hungry after a guilty-ful meal :(

Quote  |  Reply

For dinner, I just ate 1 chicken thigh, a hearty serving of pasta in garlic and olive oil, I then proceeded to eat an orange and 1/4 a cantaloupe. That's a lot and I feet bad, yet I'm still hungry. What should I do to quell my hunger? :(

that's  pretty good meal! i mean, it could be better if you had wholemeal pasta and an additional serving of vegetables... but it's not something that you should be feeling guilty about!

if you're done for the day (exceeded your calorie allowance) , try to have some water or green/herbal tea to fill yourself up without adding more calories to your day's intake! (: or if you still have calories to spare, vegetables like celery will fill you up pretty quickly without creating too much of a dent!

Well, what makes me feel guilty is the fact that I had a choice between wholemeal and normal, then I read the caloric content on the labels and saw that wholemeal had more saturated fat. So I just decided on using the normal pasta. But I feel bad now for having missed an oppurtunity to eat better. :(

Your best option would have been to substitute the chicken thigh for a nice half chicken breast (white meat is lower in fats then the dark of the thigh).

They key to that full feeling is to ensure a high amount of protein. Calories count but if you can get a high protein kick you won't have to worry so much about still feeling hungry afterwards. Another good trick is to have a big glass of water and a bowl of salad with some balsamic vinegar before hand, this will help fill you up with out making you feel bad.

A big thing to remember is not to focus so much on the calorie content of vegetables, a few extra carrot sticks aren't going to do you in. But that hunger binge later on just might.
