I am trying to get more exercise by walking and biking while listening to my ipod. I am getting tired of the songs I have and am looking for some song suggestions. I like the upbeat happy kind of music when I am working up a sweat as they keep me motivated and working hard.
Thanks for any and all suggestions.
Reason: 7/7/08 stickied for a week; 7/14/08 unstickied.
"Firestarter"- The Prodigy
MY FAVORITE 2 SONGS!
Anything metal : Childen of Bodom, Atreyu, etc. Really works for me anyways.
My very favorite work out song is "Get What You Give" by the New Radicals.
I also find that most songs from Ben Folds are upbeat and keep me motivated.
I know what you mean, each week i make a new playlist for my runs, about 10-ish songs
the best two for running are:
stronger-kanye west & show me the money- petey pablo
AHMAZING
also, look up the song caramelldansen. its in german and make sure you get the sped up version, its techno-y and fun to workout to
DJ Fresh - Submarines was my favorite workout song for years. Whenever I hear it I can't help but want to move.
Pendulum - Sounds of Life is my current favorite for exercising.
Both are on youtube, too (I won't guarantee that you'll like them though)!
Thanks everyone! I am going to listen to them all and see which ones I like.
Pendulum remix of Prodigy's Voodoo People.
If your using your i-pod There is a podcast called "Podrunner" It has it set up by beats per minute so you have an hour long program that is different songs at exactly the same tempo I use it all the time, they have a bunch of different options and it is free
Danity Kane- Damaged
Britney Spears-Break The Ice
Kanye West-Stronger
my personal fave is christina aguilera-fighter....I have noticed real heavy metal helps...its angry~ so it revs you up. My husband got me started listening to metal while I lift weights, I've found I get through the burn a lot easier if I get myself a little pissed off, and well....heavy metal can do that. But A Word of Warning you'll be exhausted at the end of your workout cause you'll really push. It sounds silly and I didn't believe my hubby until he turned it on but he was right.
Very fast and angry punk songs from bands like Be your own pet and The Ramones keep me running.
I love dance/rock songs with a catchy bass line to get me moving.
Here's some recommendations (all of these songs make me run miles):
Moving Units - "Between Us and Them"
The Faint - "Glass Danse"
The Bravery - "Honest Mistake"
Matt Pond PA - "Several Arrows Later"
Justice - "Phantom" (similar to Daft Punk)
Apostle of Hustle - "National Anthem of Nowhere"
"Move" by Thousand Foot Krutch
Anything Techno is really good for long runs, I find it works for me anyways;
Better Off Alone - by Lasgo
or the version with words Better Off Alone - by Alice Deejay
Sandstorm - by Darude
Eurodancer - by Dj Mangoo
Escape(Fast Rave Mix) - by Dj KayCee
First Warning - by The Prodigy
Or some ska, anything like Authority Zero or Blink 182 I guess, that kind of stuff, or anything that's really upbeat is good for me, and most people I assume, try running to a love ballad, not very motivating :P
Other fun and peppy metal bands are: Old Man's Child, Amon Amarth, In Flames (a personal workout favorite - get The Jester Race), and you can't go wrong with Rammstein. Hope this helps some! I run into the same problem too.
Some of my personal favorites are:
Mickey Avalon- "Jane Fonda" "Waiting to Die"
Cake- "Sheep Go to Heaven" "He's Going the Distance" "Rock and Roll Lifestyle"
Beastie Boys-"Brass Monkey" "No Sleep Till Brooklyn"
Say Anything- "Little Girls" "The Writhing South" "An Orgy of Critics" "Metal Now"
The Chinese Stars- "Left Brain" "Bored with this Planet"
The Darkness-"I Believe in a Thing Called Love"
The Misfits-"Some Kinda Hate" "Bullet"
Operation Ivy- "Unity" "Yelling in my Ear"
RunDMC- "It's Tricky" "My Adidas"
Weezer-"Hash Pipe" "Why Bother?" "Tired of Sex" "My Name is Jonas"
Here are five of my current faves:
Radio - Rancid
Misery Business - Paramore
Defeatist - Hatebreed
Don't Stop the Music - Rhianna
Dance, Dance - Fall Out Boy
If you're into alternative type music Minnesota Public Radio has an AWESOME radio station called The Current and they have monthly 'Groove' play lists that are supposed to be for working out. You could either buy the music right on the site or get it else where. It's pretty cool. http://minnesota.publicradio.org/radio/podcas ts/groove_mix/
PS - if you're ever looking for a cool radio station to play over the internet check it out. It rocks ![]()
If you have an iPod you can subscribe to free podcasts. I just discovered this last week (after having 2 iPods in my life, the first one 4 YEARS ago)... LOL gues I was out of the loop for awhile there. But there's alot there, I think someone already mentioned PodRunner, but it has some good upbeat techno music, and there's others there too depending on the music u like. I also thought it was cool that you can learn another language for free on your ipod! Although who would pay attention while exercising?? Ok, I'm rambling sorry!! Check out the podcasts, if you haven't before.
