I'm having trouble losing anymore weight.

I'm 21 years old.  I'm 5'4" and weigh 112.  I'm happy with myself at 108, but can't seem to lose the 4 pounds.

Any tips or suggestions?

The reason why you might not be losing any more weight is because you're already at a low weight for your height!!! What difference are 4 pounds going to make? Is it just the number or do you think you look any heavier at 112? My suggestion is that you stay at 112 because it's a healthy weight =D.

Oddly enough, I really do notice a difference when I'm down the 4 pounds. Maybe it's all in my head.  I carry my weight in my sides (love handles,) and when I'm at 108, I feel like they're noticeably smaller.

The problem is I have a lot of trouble mantaining any weight under 112.  I usually only even get to 108 when I'm sick.  I guess I have a small frame. I swear I'm not crazy!

112 is a low weight for your height, and 108 is even lower, and borderline underweight.

If you're having a hard time maintaining below 112, you're probably not MEANT to be under 112. If you need to get sick to get to 108, it's probably too low of a weight for your body.

Just work on toning if you want to tighten up. Do some strength training and forget the scale.

Word. Sometimes when you stop losing weight is because your body is comfortable with that weight (body and mind having differing opinions). If you want to lose those four pounds you're going to need to distress your body with a lot of vigorous exercise that you are going to have to keep doing forever to maintain that lower weight (remember, your body wants to be 112).

Damnnn! Not eating is so much easier than working out!

Haha, j/kinggg...well not really, but you know what I mean.

I agree with the other posters......you're probably not meant to be at 108.  At your height and weight, you're current at a bmi of 19.2.  At 108 lbs, you'd be sitting at a bmi of 18.5.

18.5 is the LOWEST bmi in the healthy range.  That doesn't mean it's the size we should be aiming at.  At your weight, you are still on the low end of the spectrum, and therefore, are at a healthy weight.

I'd suggest doing some toning, not because it will help you lose weight, but because it will help you feel better about yourself.  If the noticeable difference is really all in your head, that will probably help to have a more positive outlook when you look at yourself.  I know that after a workout I feel so good about myself, I start thinking I look like I've lost weight, as impossible as that is in one workout.  Sometimes, our biggest enemy is ourselves. :)

Good luck and stay healthy!  Yes, it's harder then not eating, but you'll feel SO much better, I promise!

Well thanks everyone for the input. I guess I'm going to just have to keep doing what I'm doing calorie wise and up the exercise.

about 2 years ago I was 104-105lbs eating 1200cal a day and excersizing 1-2hrs most days and I wanted to lose 4lbs as well, just like you, BUT i couldn't lose a thing...

I am now about the same weight years later eating 1800cal or more a day now, my body seems to be stable at this weight, it likes being here, and i dont mind it... sure i do wish i was a few pounds lighter everyonce in a while, but I realize that my health is more important. If I can drop a couple pounds healthfully then great, but if not that is okay too.. I will not resort back to my old ways

yes, perhaps you are not meant to be 108lbs.. especially since you claim to only reach this number when you are SICK... uh that should put up a red flag in your head without having to hear it from others

i was 87lbs when i was sick

sick = anorexic

careful.

It's funny how everyone on here thinks that if you're not overweight and you want to lose a few pounds you have an eating disorder...

108 is still in the healthy range for my height. If I was looking to lose 10 or more pounds I could understand where you were coming from. I don't starve myself, and I eat plenty.  It's summer, which equals beach weather...I just want to drop a few pounds. SHOOT ME!

on another thread you stated that you are beginning to get obsessed/food is all you think about

you refuse to maintain a healthy weight

you claim you are only 108lbs when you are sick

i dunno, but something does sound suspicious here... yes you may be healthy 4 pounds less, but maybe your body does not want to be any lower, hense why you can't lose weight... calorie count is about healthy weight managment and support

but by all means keep restricting your calories to 1200 and excersize like crazy... i hope you reach your goal, i hope it makes you happy...

Ditto to what carmenxox said.

You're at a healthy weight with a BMI that is ALREADY LOW for your height. You said that you can only get to 108 when you're SICK.

I'm not saying you have a problem, but at 112 pounds people are more likely to tell you to chill and work on maintaining rather than shoot out extreme ideas to help you drop 4 pounds. And honestly, while you might not have a problem, there are so many people on this site with similar 'goals' to yours that DO have a problem that people aren't just pulling this out of their asses.

If you're not happy with how your body composition is looking, try strength training to help build up some lean muscle and make you appear more toned.

I don't recall using the word "obsessed," though I may have. I can't deny the fact that I do think about food and plan out my meals to an unusal degree. It's pretty annoying. I have unusual eating patterns, and the bulk of food I do eat tends to be at night. It takes a mental effort for me to eat just about anything during the day. That being said...I do eat.

As far as me losing the 4 pounds. I'm sure for some people that are 5'4" and 112, losing any weight would be a horrible idea. I have a really small body frame and could definitely afford to lose a few pounds.

Also, I do only get to 108 when I'm sick. Sometimes I can mantain it for awhile after though. I can't help that it's a weight I feel comfortable at! Especially with these next few weeks coming up, I'm going to be sporting my bathing suit. I need to get rid of these damn love handles.

In reading all of your posts jblarghp, you are choosing to take the easy way out.  Yes, that's what I said.

Of course dieting/change in lifestyle is never easy, neither is exercising, toning, and getting fit.

Your comment regarding the fact that you can only get down to 108 is when you are sick is a true indication that you have no desire to become 'fit', only 'skinny'.

People such as yourself are not welcome on the CC site.  The majority of CC members want to learn healthy lifestyles, not quick fixes.  I suggest that you either adjust your goals appropriately or find some place else that may support your current ideology.

I doubt you have 'love handles' at 112 pounds, but if you do, losing four pounds isn't going to get rid of them. STRENGTH TRAINING AND TONING will. Losing body FAT, which is completely different than losing pure POUNDS, will help you appear toned, and fit.

HAHA wowwww, I'm sorry...but that statment was pretty much rediculous. I'm going to try take that comment seriously, but I'm having a lot of trouble.

First off, you are completely out of line. I love how you act like a "CC member" is some perfect breed of a person.

As far as your comment about "quick fixes" goes, I was never looking for a quick fix. If anything during the past few months I've been making a very conscious effort to start fixing my eating patterns. This hasn't been going smoothly, but I definitely have been trying to eat more and spread out my meals during the day. I also exercise...so I'm not sure what your little rant about exercising not being easy was supposed to mean.

Listen, if I wanted a quick fix I could have easily lost those 4 pounds by now. I have very little trouble not eating, and I could easily do this to obtain my goal. That was never my plan though, and I came on here simply asking for healthy tips or suggestions because I've been stuck.

You are completely off base.

Thanks for the entertainment though.

Maybe try taking in your calories earlier in the day, and less at night.

what minerva_moon said. Strength training can help lower your body fat and help you look more toned, even if you don't lose an ounce.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I have a feeling that scolding her and telling her that she isn't welcome here is not going to help.  =/  How about you talk to her first, learn a little bit about her goals and habits, before you go off on a tangent about how unhealthy she is?

xoxoxo Okie ;)

HAHA wowwww, I'm sorry...but that statment was pretty much rediculous. I'm going to try take that comment seriously, but I'm having a lot of trouble.  I too was having a ton of trouble trying to understand you trying to convince everyone your 'need' to lose more weight when your body won't let you.

First off, you are completely out of line. I love how you act like a "CC member" is some perfect breed of a person.  We are not a perfect breed.  We are a group of very imperfect people who have come together to realize that we are not perfect and don't strive to be.  We have one goal in mind-health/wellness thus strive to achieve that through manageable and reasonable means.

As far as your comment about "quick fixes" goes, I was never looking for a quick fix.-Really? You certainly didn't come across that way.

That was never my plan though, and I came on here simply asking for healthy tips or suggestions because I've been stuck.  But then you have constantly argued with every response you have received from every poster who has answered you with healthy tips and sage advice.

You are completely off base. If you think so.

Thanks for the entertainment though.  You're very welcome.  By the way, when trying to make a proper point it is always made more succinct when words are spelled correctly.
