Going to make it through the 4th!!!

Quote  |  Reply

I've always had a hard time with weekends, and although this will be the biggest challenge yet, I'm determined to make it through the long holiday weekend!!!

Today's my first day off and already I've logged on here (something I usually just "forget" to do ): )

Anyone else want to join me on this quest?!

Also, any good healthy bbq tips, and healthy desserts to share?

Hey! I'm with you - I usually fall off the wagon on weekends. Although I have now made it a point to stay on track - just in time for a holiday! Are you going to any cookouts?

I am going to try eating chicken (skin off) instead of a hamburger or hot dog. (Although I just heard the other day that eating a hot dog ONCE IN A WHILE is not that terrible for you.) I also plan to hang out by the vegetable tray so I don't chow down on chips.

And I am bringing the dessert - so I can control what is going in it. I am thinking something with lots of berries, and maybe a light cream cheese or cool whip.

Keep it in moderation and you will be alright!

yesss!!! I'm actually hosting a BBQ, but not in control of the menu -- uh oh.

Good idea with the chicken, I'll probably have ONE burger, we usually buy very lean ground beef, with fat free cheese on weight watchers wheat bread instead of a bun, or maybe turkey burgers.  We'll see!

I too am in charge of the dessert! Thank goodness because that's almost always where I got out of control ;)  I found this great one online it's a trifle with red cake (i'm going to make sugar free angel food, or something similar with red food coloring), low-fat/sugar free coolwhip, blueberries all layered with strawberries garnishing the top!!!  Very festive :D

Definitely turkey burgers!  And those new low carb burger buns by Wonder.

Low carb bun = 80 cals
2 oz. 93% ground turkey, shaped into patty = 80 cals

Skip the cheese, add condiments, lettuce and tomato, still should be under 200 cals.

That's what I'm going to do anyway! :)

veggie burgers and fruit salad!

It's 1:24 and so far, going good!  Already went for a run, had an egg white and toast breakfast and can't wait for some BBQ chicken :)  Hope you're all enjoying your day so far!!

Right there with ya, my in-control sistahs!

Not going anywhere, but going to grill some steaks here at home. I'm lucky, it's just the two of us so I don't have to worry about other people bringing stuff over that I'll be tempted to eat, but we're still having fun!

He's having a ribeye (TONS of fat) and I'm having a 4 oz tri tip steak - much lower in calories than the ribeye and I still feel like I'm indulging. We're also grilling seasoned potato chunks in foil on the grill - YUM! I'm also sticking with flavored vodka on club soda in a talllll glass, so I'm getting my drink on ... all within my day's calorie budget!

Good luck, you guys, and enjoy your 4th!

i did it! :D

oooookay so I did go over a bit, but nothing too crazy.  I feel like one day isn't a deal breaker, and I actually logged it all, so I'm not ind enial hehe.  and i didn't even have that attitude, "screw the diet" or today feel like I should just eat what I want because I "screwed up" yesterday.  So today I'm back to it, and feeling FANTASTIC.  :D hooraaaay!

:) overall a very successful 4th!! Hope everyone else had a greeeeaaaaat day!

(well there is a thing that is good about being european - we do not have any july 4th celebrations, ie no festive food temptations:)
