How long will it take to flush/lose the water retention? teeto2
  Jun 29 2008 14:28

I have had a couple high sodium days in a row and am up in weight by about 2lbs.  I also upped my calories a bit this week. How long should I expect to see the retention on the scale?

Like should the salt from yesterday be flushed by the end of today-so the scale should adjust tommorow?

Thanks

whenever i am carrying extra water weight around from too much sodium or drinking a few the night before, which i can always tell because i feel really bloated around my waist and my fingers get chubby too, i find that drinking a lot of water really helps! it may make you feel even more bloated for a few hours but it flushes out the sodium. also i think working out helps too b/c you sweat out a lot!   so.... water + working out = return of happy number on scale! :)

It seems to take me about a day, but drinking a lot of water will help flush the excess sodium out of your system.
