Calories in medicine?

Quote  |  Reply

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone knew where to find out the calorie information for medicine?

I am now on round 2 of C-C (ready for it this time) but have come down with a stonking cold and I am taking Beechams All In One tablets. The first problem is that they contain Lactose and I am intolerant ... so already I will have a bad tummy, water retantion, bloated, pain and cramps etc so I am not expecting to lose anything this week at all ...

I am toying with the idea of taking the syrup instead, so I can steer clear of the Lactose, but surely there are loads of calories in that? I can't take the capsules as I am allergic to the Iodine and yellow colouring. The other brand contains too much ephedrine and I am very very sensitive to that because of low blood pressure ...

Gosh, I sound like I am falling apart, haha!!

I was just wondering if there are lots of calories in the syrup, as I don't really want to sit with horrible reactions to the Lactose from the tablets, but I also don't want to load up on calories from the syrup ... it's bad enough just trying to eat healthy when you feel horrid ...

Anyway, I am waffling. Any help would be very very much appreciated!!

Thank you, Kiara Smile

cough drops are like hard candy, they have about 15 calories each, tums have 8 calories for 2 pills, some vitamins have 10 calories per pill but it should say on your bottle somewhere (in really small print).

As for cough syrup and other syrups, do not take them unless absolutely necessary, they can contain anywhere from 20 - 30 calories per TWO TEASPOONS, its outrageous, i avoid it whenever possible.
They make sugar free cough syrup for diabetics, ask your pharmacist.
