trying to maintain at home but ended up gaining!
hey guys! I'm 21 years old. I just got home from college and this sounds like the complete opposite of what most ppl would say but i've put on weight now that i'm home. Since i started my diet while i was away at school, i had a whole system going. I went down from 145 to around 117-118 in about 6-7 months. What I did was something similar to the cheater's diet. I ate 1200 cals/ 5 days a week and then cheated on weekends. It really helped me stay motivated just waiting for the weekend. Anyways, with that being said. Coming home has not been easy at all. I find myself falling off track and makin excuses. I work out more at home because I have to, it's hard not to cheat. Since I'm in college i'm still in the process of looking for a summer job so staying at home w/o classes or work during the summer provokes me to eat more as a sort of boredom. Then my family eats late or at all diff. times, we have visitors come over, we've had a vacation in Vegas where it was impossible to figure out the calories in most food. Finally, I have friends who I haven't seen in ages asking me to go out for drinks over the weekends. Normally, in college it wouldn't b a problem cuz i'd follow either 1200 or maintanence during the week so i could cheat a day or two. At home I find everyday is another cheat day and another 2 months or so is just gonna make things worse. Sorry about the long entry but in short, I came as 118 and right now I'm around 123-124. It bounces here and there, on very very good days i see 119.5! Bottom line is, although that's a good weight for my height (i'm 5'5-5'6) it's just shocking that i came home in May and already gained that much. Does anyone have any advice?
P.S. --one of my biggest problems since coming home is everytime i see someone eating or someone offers me food, I can't say no! I know this is the maintenance forum but any help would b cool..i wasn't sure where to put this post.
Thanks!
Hey there! wow i have like the same stats as you. yay us! but yeah im dealing with the same thing you are. i had a whole schdeule in college but now, i dont go to the gym or anything... so to compensate, i try really hard to always keep myself active. like by going to the mall, washing the dishes, just anything
I guess its working for me cuz i came home 3 weeks ago at 116.8 lbs and now im 117.2 lbs. keep in mind that im not going to the gym at all (i used to run 1 mile on the treadmill and 20 min. on the elliptical 3 times a week).
Yeah but it sucks being at home cuz theres food everywhere!! and its free!! and its right outside your door calling your name.. why dont you try leaving the house when u have an urge to head for the kitchen???
for me, i usually get those cravings at night after dinner.. so what i do is brush my teeth. try that.. its actually really helps
