Alright I know i'm not alone here!
[but if I am this will be one sad little topic now won't it?]
so, lactose intolerant is one of those tincy little things that interferes with my diet and foods I eat.
I mean when everyone goes out its always...okay do I have my pills, or I hope they have lactose free cheese!
so, I'm opening this question up
favourite items of food that are lactose free?
or something along those lines :]
thanks much, I just feel like reading them, and then going and checking my pantry to see if I've got it :]
love to all

Rice milk and summerfruit alpro yoghurt :)
xXx
Almond breeze milk. Not sure what to tell you about cheese - I generally avoid foods with cheese in them anyway, rather than looking for a cheese substitute.
Hard cheese shouldn't bother you unless you are severely intolerant. It doesn't bother me. I eat cheddar cheese (and others) a lot. Yoghurt has lactase in it (the enzyme that digests lactose).
I bought lactase pills and realized they don't always work so I just stay away from milk and ice cream.
Kefir is great to keep around, it's basically just like yoghurt and I use it for smoothies.
I am lactose intolerant too!!! I use rice milk for smoothies, soy milk too.
Frozen yogurt for ice cream substitute.
I try to stay away from cheese too, but you could use goats milk cheese for things, that should digest well.
Hard cheese bothers me all kinds, I am severly lactose intolerant.
Yogurt with all kinds of cereals.
I can not digest sour cream and cream cheese either, so I stay away from that too.
I have dairy free everything - from margarine, to soy milk and Alpro plain soya yoghurt (which I think is indistinguishable from the real thing), and fake cheese, and I find with that I can make all sorts of delicious treats including cakes and 'cheese' sauces with these, so I never feel left out.
I think my fav is nutritional yeast flakes, which are hard to find, but are delicious in a fake cheese sauce, or just on their own with a spoon.
Today I made a 100% fruit smoothie (blueberries, melon, pear, banana) and drank some, but I froze the rest in one of those kiddie's ice lolly makers. As it's lovely and warm, I am going to sit outside and enjoy my dairy free 'ice cream' - yum!
purely decadent is a line of lactose free frozen desserts.
In terms of restaurat eating, if you are near any vegetarian/vegan or only vegan restaurants, you could try eating there. If people want to go out for pizza, depending on the situation you could propose a make-your-own pizza party, or, if you are going out, then see if you can get a cheesless pizza. I've never been anywhere where they refused to make me a personal cheesless pizza.
Other, totally non-dairy foods that I really like are, rice and beans, pasta, falafel and hummus, nachos with guacamole and black beans, samosas, and vegetarian chile.
I have never actually
asked for them to make a cheeseless pizza
because I wouldnt want people to go out of their way
so im usually, just
pulling it off anyway :]
but thanks everyone who replied
and for the record
i totally went to my fridge and pantry and checked out all the things you guys said :]
hehehe
much love!!
