20 pounds in 10 weeks-have you ever done it?? chacha09
  Jun 06 2008 06:24

Hi everyone!

I would really like to hear from people who have lost 20 pounds within 10 weeks or have good suggestions on how to do this!  I am 21, 5'3'' and about 140-145 and would like to be 120-125 in 10 weeks.  Can I do this?  And if you have done this, how many calories and what kind of exercises did you do?  Thanks everyone!!

I just did. I went from 155 to 135 in exactly 10 weeks. I was very strict with my calorie counting and kept to 1200 cal/day. I wasn't exercising at all, hence the low calories (I literally sit at a computer all day long). I've now upped my calories and am working out regularly and aiming at 1lb./week for my last 20. Anyway, it is very possible... you just have to be determined.

I lost 24 lbs in 42 days a little over a year ago. 30-60 min of cardio 4-5 times  a week and cut down to around 1300 calories a day. It can  can be done, it just takes determination. I gained all my weight back over the previous winter and am now trying to drop it again. I have dropped almost 10 pounds in the past two weeks so i know it can be done.

I am 5'0 and about 150. I NEED to be about 120 by this summer. I have weddings to go to all summer and in fall. And I want to get it off before winter. I say we motivate each other. you up for a weigh in on Fridays. First one being today. Post for today, and then we will see how we are again next Fri. So 10 weeks would put us to August 1st. First wedding is August 8 so I will be so psyched if I could do it. You in?

Hey! Sounds good-except I didn't weigh in today!  I will for sure next Friday (i don't want to weight now as i have already eaten breakfast and drank lots of water : ) ) I definitely need motivation!!

I would love to lose 20 pounds in 10 weeks.  I'm really hoping for success like that.  I'm planning on getting married next fall and I want to buy my wedding dress this winter so I need to be at a desirable weight when I buy the dress.  I'm 5'1, 178 lbs. now.  If I could be 155 by September that would be wonderful!

hey ladies!  I started the chart.

Chacha - Just send your height and what it is tongiht before you go to bed. we will be more accurate next fri.

Milwau - i got you on there. Totally achievable goal!

I am 143 lbs. 5'0 and i want to be 105. (doc says that is perfect for small frame and my height) but right now, my goal is 115. thats more attainable.

Please post the new ones on the 13th before 2 so I can update everything and post our awesome results!

alright, well as of now i am 143 also...5'3 and small frame as well.  My ultimate goal is 115 but i am shooting for 120 by mid-august (because then i will be able to wear my skinny clothes on vacation!)

I would LOVE ot be a part of this. I;ve been 'dieting' for way too long. Mostly, because I was more interested in whining about what I used to look like than actually do anything about it.

5-2 (and 3/4!), SW: 142, CW: 140; GW: 110

I'd love more motivation with you guys!

Me too. I would love to be apart of this.  I have been a member since Jan. this year and quickly lost 17 pounds.  Then I plateaued for a long time and then gained back about 4 pounds.  I am currently 140.  I started at 153 and my goal is 120.  I am 5'3" and a half.

20 pounds in 10 weeks, Let's do this!

I lost 20lb in 10 weeks just following the advice of others on this site and sticking to it.  I think it was easier because I had more than 20 to lose though.  I went from ~220 to 190 pretty quickly, after that my weight loss slowed down as I approach a reasonable weight (6'2" male).

If your ideal weight is at the bottom of the 20lb you want to lose, it would be difficult to get it off in 10 weeks.

#11 missyanne26 Jun 06 2008 23:12
I think its possible, but I think it also depends on how much you have to lose. If it's the last 20 pounds you hope to lose it might not be attainable healthfully. For some reason the last few pounds are the most difficult to get to budge (not that any weight is easy to lose!)

I would LOVE to lose 20# in 10 weeks! Tomorrow starts my 10th week of taking my weight loss seriously and I have lost a total of 3.2#!!! In all fairness it has really only been the last 4 weeks that I have gotten my eating under control - hence the almost 1# a week loss. Keep us posted on your progress. Your group sounds like a great motivator!!

Do you really think this is possible?  I think my biggest problem is self doubt ... Anyone have any tips?  I mean, what are your plans?  My plan as of now is just to stick to a 1400 calorie diet and exercise when I can.  Anyone have very specific kind of plans?  Like certain foods, or hours of exercise, etc?  I'm open to anything!  For me, my biggest weakness is staying motivated, I lose faith so easily ...

That is my biggest problem as well milwaukeegal!  Self-doubt...I am also looking for anyone whoe has a specific plan...I need to stay motivated too!  I am also going to try to stick to 1300-1400 cals and include cardio and weight training hopefully...

I started drinking Diet Green Tea from Lipton. Very good. No cal. and i dont feel the need to eat a handful of Cheezits every 5 minutes. Also just everytime you want to put something in mouth, just think, what would my calorie counter have to think about this.

also, i just bought a pair of rollerblades so now instead of walking next to my daughter while she rides bike around block, i blade, uses way more muscles and will help lose.

small steps ladies, we arent going to be size 0's but just think how good it will feel to cross our legs correctly, or buy a med shirt instead of large.....positive positive positive.

So how did everyone do this weekend! We all on the right track for Fri?

#17 kla5019 Jun 09 2008 14:25

can i be a part?!  I want to be 128 by the end of the summer and started @ 149.  I hope that we can do this.  last summer i lost 12 pounds which put me around 134 at the time... and extra 5-6 pounds this summer would really make me feel great considering i gained 18 pounds this year when i was away at college :( i definitely think we can do this though - i go down the shore in 10 weeks so yayy!  good luck!

#18 jfontaine0822 Jun 09 2008 14:26
