Per serving - 176 cals, 10g fat, 9g carbs, 7g protein - Massa Sovada (Portuguese Sweet Bread) - This recipe makes six loaves, which are traditionally baked in pie tins, but you could use some other type of similar sized metal pan. This is the best version of this recipe (and I've tried many.) It is a slightly modified version of my aunt's recipe. She visited from Portugal last year and wrote it down for my mom, who then translated it for me. I've cut the recipe in half and changed it from 10 cups all-purpose flour to 6 cups all-purpose and four cups bread flour. I also added a 1/2 tsp more yeast and kneaded the dough with a stand mixer instead of by hand. It's a long process, but well worth it.
