FAQs
Q: Why count calories?
Counting calories is hands-down the most efficient way of planning and tracking weight loss as well as weight maintenance. Essentially, you must make sure you eat as many calories as you burn daily to maintain your weight, or, eat less than you burn to shed excess weight.
Q: What exactly is a calorie?
Calories are a unit used for measuring energy. This energy present in the food you consume is either burned from natural physical processes/exercise, or converted into fat to be used later, similar to the concept of electrical batteries. In fact, there are about 3,500 calories in one pound of fat.
Q: How many calories should I be eating every day?
You can use our free online tool to determine the calories needed to reach a goal weight. Basically, any value lower than the number of calories you burn daily will result in weight loss. However, cutting your caloric intake too drastically can be unhealthy and often results in a regain of all of the lost weight.
